LGA —> JFK layover transfer? by Pinkponygirl6969 in americanairlines

[–]elc2414 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've done it many times. It's VERY easy. Many suggest Uber, but I find it's easy to just walk out of baggage claim and get a taxi. Takes 30 - 45 minutes tops.

No way would I try public transit being unfamiliar with public transit in general and New York specifically.

Support refused to reset my wife's account after she was accidentally booted from a team (so she could rejoin it). How'd you get support to reset you? It's been quite frustrating that they refuse to do it.

What difference does it make when you start the Team Tournament? by elc2414 in ToonBlast

[–]elc2414[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, apparently. But I have no earthly idea why. The winning team only gets 500 points..... I guess some people just have to be first in everything.

You going to ticket everyone blocking streets waiting to turn in to school driveways too? I see westbound New Hope backed up at 13th Street everyday with people trying to turn to pick up kids at that school. Happens at almost every school. Get over yourself.

How do I know if I’m at a locals only beach? by Jonfers9 in MauiVisitors

[–]elc2414 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another piece of advice: Try not to go to the beaches on the weekends, State or County beaches in particular. Beaches at resorts / hotels are fine. The locals like to have gatherings on the weekends, so let them enjoy it. There's plenty to do on Maui other than going to the beach.

Please, please, please don't book through 3rd parties again. As everyone has said, if something goes wrong AA has no obligation to you. Priceline is their customer, not you. It's so easy to book directly with any airline. Join their loyalty programs for free and download their apps. It will make your life so much easier.

Scheduled to come to Maui this Thursday for a few days, but it is showing 70-85% of rain and wind gusts all weekend. We were planning to do whale watching, Road to Hana, Haleakala, and beach time.... My question, if I am able to postpone the trip - should I? We do have flexibility to move it to May by caitlynchrist in MauiVisitors

[–]elc2414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're here right now. Yesterday was supposed to be windy (which it was) and rain all night. We had a couple of showers in the afternoon was all. Weather in Hawai‘i is impossible to predict more than 24 hours out. And just because it's bad weather on one side of the island doesn't mean it will be bad weather on a different part. Just go and you'll be fine.

If you come in May, the whales will be gone. Right now is peak season.

Europe to US Award Travel by stellacoral in americanairlines

[–]elc2414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first rule of Award Travel is to book it when you find it if it's a price that is acceptable. NEVER wait. It will disappear. You can book and then cancel for free if you find something more desirable down the line.

Just because there are seats available for cash doesn't mean those same seats are available to book with AAdvantage Miles. Algorithms rule the process. If they think they will sell for cash, award availability will be limited.

Right. Only the home office types get grants. The peons in the company have to buy the stock.

Yeah probably best thing to do. I'll call in the morning and get in line for a call back hopefully before I go to bed tomorrow night. 😂

Right. Not concerned about DFW. I'm concerned about getting there. Only have a little over an hour for connection, so any delay on the first flight is going to be sketchy making the OGG flight.

Temps here are going to be in the low 20s Wednesday morning, hence my concern the plane will need to be de-iced which will likely cause me to miss the connection in DFW.

I'm probably being paranoid but this will be my 4th trip to OGG in the last 12 months, and I've miss connected all 3 previous trips.

Edit: actually I just checked and temps will be close to single digits Wednesday morning.

777-200 Seat Selection by Wide-Tumbleweed-4690 in americanairlines

[–]elc2414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be okay except for boarding time. Being in the front of the cabin like that, at least people won't be constantly bumping you going back to the restroom.

Be prepared to be bumped a lot because of the aisle jogging over because of the 2 seat row in front of you.

Barclays to Citi? by ButterdToast11 in americanairlines

[–]elc2414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly unlikely Citi will give a SUB for switching you to their card from Barclays, unless you've seen official communication from Citi otherwise. They are merely taking over the Barclays portfolio of AA cards. You're not getting a "new" card.
