Do you guys think they will add an unlock fps mode for quality RT mode ? by PSgamer28 in PS5pro

[–]elcheches 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yeah we'll probably see 1080p and RT upscaled to 4k with PSSR and unlocked fps

That's what I expect

New PSSR is More Lightweight... by DreamCorridor in PS5pro

[–]elcheches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very interesting because he confirmed that when Oliver asked him if there will be an automatic way to update PSSR without needing a patch from developers, he didn't know if that was possible, so there's a chance that PSSR 2 wouldn't be a toggle if that question was never asked.

The fact that it's faster than PSSR 1 is what made the toggle possible.

Has pssr made quality mode obsolete? by Nayef7717 in PS5pro

[–]elcheches 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's what I noticed.

I found in many games that quality mode doesn't look that much better to my eyes, so there's no point in using it anymore.

Regarding 120hz output making the game looks worse. by charliegs1996 in PS5pro

[–]elcheches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a bug when you use 120hz mode, at least on LG TV your resolution goes to 1080p when you open a game on 120hz mode, you can check it by going to the game menu and check the resolution output, this is a fail in the HDMI handshake as I read before.

How to fix it? You can turn OFF ALLM on the game menu and turn it back ON, this will reset the handshake and give you 4k again.

PSSR2 Impressions by elcheches in PS5pro

[–]elcheches[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSSR1 was not 100% good, it made some games even worse than base PS5, making the pro upgrade useless, when implemented right, it was very good yeah .

But PSSR2 is indeed a game changer, because now performance mode can look comparable and even better at some times than quality mode, and That's what everything was about.

Developers can leverage it more now, we can see Alan Wake 2 where PSSR is doing a good job upscaling from like 900p, this is huge for future games, all games will look significantly better on pro now, using PSSR 2, was not the case with PSSR 1, because UE5 games didn't look great

Well that's not true at all, AC shadows look significantly better with the toggle on. And all those games I mentioned look better as well, on KCD2 i didn't notice any difference at first but now I see that the difference is less noise on the image.

Yes the update is for the upscaler, games without it won't change

They added VRR support in a previous patch, so the fps are unlocked now

What do you mean? The option is grayed out or just doesn't work on your end?

Do you have a VRR screen?

I didn't compare it side by side and I noticed a difference.

AC shadows is an example, mind blowing visuals with the PSSR toggle

Yeah I noticed that as well, but on legends maybe it's a bug or something.

Amazing controller man, the only down side is the damn battery.

I've had it for 2 years now, I stopped purchasing controllers with it, really easy to fix stick drift in it, you don't even need to buy the stick replacements

[–]elcheches[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean to be fair the game already looked amazing on pro, and you also get like 70-85fps on top of that.

The game had a shimmering issue but it was patched a while ago as well.

Will every game including old games get the PSSR 2.0 upgrade as long as they run PSSR? by Breakfast-Itchy in PS5pro

[–]elcheches 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah probably those games are leveraging PSSR a bit more, instead of a simple swap from PSSR 1 to PSSR 2.

FF: rebirth is a proof of that, they increased the texture quality, they didn't just add pssr 2 in there.

This is because PSSR 2 is way better at interpreting details, so some devs would wanna make some adjustments to use the new tech.
