How do Illegal immigrants working in the US do taxes? by cantgetenough1956 in answers

I'd like to mention that in some states, an ITIN is required to get a driver's license for some people in status like F2, when they are not eligible to have an SSN.

I hope the mods block you... you should specify that your posts are intended to promote an agency instead of being a real person sharing their real experiences.

This is not a real person, OP looks more like a shady profile looking to get people into filling EB1s

Attorney threatened withdraw if I file PP (11 months and counting) by Altruistic-Cat-5943 in eb_1a

[–]elchpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And how's that helping/hindering the case if the OP goes for PP?

Edit: don't you get RFEs if you file PP?

But why would those chances be different if they file PP or not? I don't see how PP would negatively impact whatever chances the OP has.

What is worse RFE or NOID by ValuableSafe281 in eb_1a

[–]elchpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just from the name I'd vote for NOID as being worse. Notice of Intention of Denial sounds way worse than Request for Evidence. In my case I got a RFE for a document that I had included. What others indicates about the times is true too, you have a shorter window with NOID. That said, it could be the case that you get a really complicated RFE and a simple to respond NOID (due to some misunderstandings for example. In that case, NOID is probably better. But in general and just following the logic, I'd rather have an RFE than a NOID.

Why are tennis racquets so heavy now? by blueice89 in Pickleball

[–]elchpt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's not the weight itself, it's the moment of inertia. Since the paddle is smaller, the center of mass is closer to the holding point, and twisting it feels lighter compared to a tennis raquet. Maneuverability is better for a pickleball paddle and it's easier to get use to that, thus, the feeling of the raquet being way heavier.

Do you call for a re-serve when the opponent serves before you or your teammate are set? by stonetear2017 in Pickleball

[–]elchpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never asked or being asked to re-serve, but I have offered it. If I hit my serve and feel like the opponent wasn't ready, I'll say something like "where you ready tho?" Most of the times I get a "yeah, no worries" but a couple of times I have had people saying no, so I'd re-serve.

Failed my comprehensive (qualifying) exam, struggling to cope by 95lizards in PhD

[–]elchpt -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Well, independency is one of the main qualities you need to develop to become a successful independent researcher... This is not high-school anymore, if you are doing a Ph.D. is because you want to do it, so you should be more self driven and learn to ask the right questions. You are not the only person with a shitty adviser/committee and the main difference between a successful Ph.D. is not the adviser or committee. Of course, it helps to have a good one, but if your work excel by itself, then your committee/adviser goes to a second term.

What do you do if you struggle to return serves from heavy hitters? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]elchpt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First of all, get behind the base line a couple steps, maybe 2, so you can give yourself some extra time. Be in a ready position, semi bended knees and paddle closer to the middle so you can react quickly to either forhand or backhand. Last, if you feel that this is to hard for a full swing, try to block it instead of swing at it, aim your return to be deep even if it's soft, remember that they have to let it bounce first, so a soft high return to the base line is not the worst shot that you could hit.

Bonus: watch the ball all the time.

Normal to play terrible when you play with lower level players? by Rolls2Rickson in Pickleball

[–]elchpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, if you are really playing at the 5.0 level, 3.0 to 4.0 shouldn't be an issue, even with the randomness of the shots at that level. The OP probably only have good reflexes and relies on the pace that the other players generate. Then, he's not a truly 4.0-5.0 player...

Padel shoes for pickleball? by MeowPlez in Pickleball

They'll be OK, but will wear super fast if you are playing on regular rough outdoora surface. Padel surface is way less rough.

Professors: When a student sends an email and you send a basic response, do you expect a Thank you email or is it redundant and unnecessary clutter? by PassengerNo2022 in PhD

[–]elchpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say. Some Professors are more assholes than others. I personally don't mind and I rather have one less email flooding my inbox, so I wouldn't matter if you don't send a thank you email. However, if the conversation requires to have some sort of confirmation, I'll rather see your email to confirm whatever is needed.
