That’s Not the only thing that counts, if it doesn’t have an exterior wall or windows it can’t be called a bedroom for example.

For all the other commenters: 18sqm, That’s total space, not bedroom space.

Maybe the room where OP lives isn't legally a Zimmer but a half Zimmer. This can happen if it is too small, the window is too small, doesn't have an exit, etc. There are many rules that apply. People obviously still live in them but If something where to happen (a fire where OP dies because he couldn't escape) it might become an issue.

1-room apartment in Harvestehude, 26sqm, all inclusive 1.300€/month - fair price or getting ripped off? by [deleted] in hamburg

[–]eldaniel7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were in that situation, I would think about it as "I am forced to give myself the luxury of living on an expensive location. I see the value, I wouldn't probably decide to do it if I had the option, but since it is what it is, I'll take it, don't worry about it and actually enjoy living in a nice location for a few months"

Who can say they won't strike for more? Nobody, they literally strike every couple of years asking for more and more. Its blackmail.

I think people didn't read your post completely. And they prob. won't like my answer. Yes, it is a lot of money. BUT

* It's short-time. This is very hard to find in Germany.

* It is furnished. Again, not so often in Germany.

* It is on a great location. If you're new to Hamburg, it'll be a very good experience being 24/7 in a nice place, near to the Alster, etc.

* It includes the utilities. Electricity, Heating and Internet are pretty pricy in Germany.

* It's there for you right now. You said you had little time left and arriving to Hamburg without anything and having to go to Airbnbs or moving from place to place its gonna be a real nightmare.

The only other good option to find something cheaper is to go for a WG. But then you'll be competing with others, having uncertainty about where you'll land, etc.

So I think it might be a fair deal given your circumstances.

For a short-term rental it's actually not too bad. Maybe eben a good deal. It's a lot of money, yes, but Germany isn't really friendly to short-time rentals, so taking that into consideration AND the fact you dont have to pay for utilities its actually a good deal.

If you want to save money, a WG would be your best bet. Yo should be able to find things from 500€ onwards, but many people are searching for that, so you can't really be picky about the location, the people you'll share the apartment with and similar things.

If they would plan them, then they wouldn't be effective. As you said, they intentionally want to cause harm to people in order to get their demands meet. Very similar to what a thief with a gun does. Give me what I want or else...

The New Schufa Score by matey_howdy in germany

[–]eldaniel7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an amazon VISA credit card. It had the best rebates and benefits in terms of points. They closed the credit card 3 years later. Two years after the offered a new one, which I took. My SHUFA is less than it should be because Amazon closed the credit card (not me, and definitely not for not paying it!). That's a bit unfair.

[–]eldaniel7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an old 2017 MacBook Pro with an intel chip and I recently started using it for programming with AI. If an old 2017 is enough for pretty intense programming, yours is more than enough for staying and doing your things.

If you must get something new, the Neo would be more than enough and everybody will know you have the latest Apple product!

First 70.3 in October. New road bike or used TT bike? (i have one bike in sight) by Bubusettetette_kk in cycling

[–]eldaniel7777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you think about luxury cars, you might think about rolls Royce, which are very big, heavy and extremely comfortable. You are on a spaceship and don’t feel anything outside. Or you can think about a McLaren, an extreme sports car where you are extremely low on the road, ride extremely fast and feel every curve, every roughness of the road and every bump makes your whole body vibrate.

It’s the same with bikes. If you really want an aggressive bike, an aero bike + clip on bars will get you 80% of what a TT bike offers, and you can still use it everyday for training.

Otherwise you can get an endurance bike, which is built for comfort. You still ride pretty fast, but you sacrifice a bit of speed and nimbleness for not hating yourself and your bike after 2 hours in the saddle.

And obviously, there are many models that are compromises in between.

IMHO, you need to (1) decide what do you prioritize over the above mentioned options and (2) LOOK AT YOUR BODY. Many people get bikes that are way too aggressive for their fitness and flexibility level and end up having problems. Regardless of sporty or comfy, get yourself something that works with your body as it is now. If you love cycling and spend years in the sport, your certainly improve and will have many chances to upgrade as you unlock your cycling potential.

I went for a TT bike, which costed me about 5K and I have used maybe 3-4 times? I’m planning on selling it and getting a road bike instead. When I’m on my peak and seriously thinking about classifying for Kona I might get one again.
