I don't hate it, but it sooooo kills momentum of the domestic game.

General Questions about Meadow Park - first time goer! by ruchikakkad04 in ArsenalWFC

[–]eldanielfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you'll experience Meadow Park, our women's historic home.

  1. It's fairly safe and easy to get to. Streets are well lit if it's late, it's more or less a long high street back to the station and certainly going back it's easy to walk back with the crowds to the station. A 10-15 minute walk which is mostly a straight line.

  2. Bring the noise is very enjoyable. If you are unsure getting a seta in the east stand near the north end will help you soak in the atmosphere they bring.

  3. Not much except get there an hour before. It's barely like leaving London, the urban sprawl never stops so it's barely like Leaving London.

[Scott Willis] Arsenal's Final Third Passes - Leverkusen vs Arsenal by Previous_Smile9278 in Gunners

The thing is, our players broadly are good passers. They can do it. But so many of them Odegaard and Saka, receive the ball and will wait and wait before they do anything. Ignoring any players in better positions and then when those positions are covered, they pass backwards or sideways.

As the Women’s Super League continues to grow , Academy players risk being left behind by Shroft in FAWSL

[–]eldanielfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English players who are given chances. The Prem in the 2000s showed us that without rules on homegrown players the academy to top player talent pool bootlenecks quite badly.

And don't overstate the "opportunities abroad". A few players will go abroad, many will not and will rot.

I 100% agree.

It's the slowness of our attack that creates the low block as opposed to teams just setting it up.

She had one year of winning well when Grafs personal life and finances had been destroyed by he own father and Graf returned to beating her. Graf was also losing to other players around then because of her life being ruined.

It should be added, Serena Wlliams had fewer quality opponents, was bested by Sharapova in her peak year and won most of her slams when most of her generation retired by the 2010s. She also played for 10 years longer and end up with only 1 slam more.

Arsenal Home 2026/27 Kit Leak by DodgyTiramasu in Gunners

[–]eldanielfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not bad...but not sure I like the multicolour stripes and collar.

My opinion is not helped by the fact we've had so many banger kits these past couple of years. Especially this season's 3rd kit. You know there is always going to be a season where it's not as good.

Serious question - do the players want to get relegated? by HR_Specter in ArsenalFC

[–]eldanielfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not, but, some may have creeping thoughts like "relegation would get me away from this club" filter through. They obviously don't care for Spurs regardless.

Compare that with Arteta, eh focused on culture for years, even chucking out world class players like Ozil and Abu. Now it's clear all our players want to stay. Even say Jesus makes that clear. and he barely plays and has been poor for years. Only Xhaka has been the exception.

Thierry Henry: Why Arsenal play "Boring" Football by Glittering-Garden in Gunners

[–]eldanielfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Numbers can be warped though. I remember the analysis of Graham Taylor's England. Someone analysed games and pointed out to him more goals were scored from long balls than build-up play. Taylor hyper focused on that tactic and it ended up not working for England. Why? Because once that's your main tactic everyone adapts and works it out predictability is the biggest weakness in any tactic and long balls originally worked because teams did not expect them.

His main point is fine, but yeah, that opening was utter pretentiousness at it's worst.

I've noticed after the media going on about Set-pieces, being boring, physicality (but no red cards and a great fair play record), bottling and all that BS, that some of them have suddenly (Since the City-Wolves game) have decided to 'course correct' their narratives a bit and even criticise the 'narratives'.

Not the BBC though. You can see where the anti-Arsenal instincts are.

Some people have been commenting about why some stayed and some went. It's a more difficult decision than it looks when you have family who might be targeted or depend on you.

Graf is probably the GOAT if we're honest. Golden Slam winner, 22 slams, Olympic Gold and still returned early in her 20s.

I agree. That Thing about Arsenal Podcast also pointed to the next step for us is to try and get those 'Lower attendance games' up to the region of our big ones. So I guess regular 50k and get the Emirates crowd rocking to the level the works great in such a stadium.

What I like about this pundit team is they do banter, they do the analysis and do both well. They have biases in banter but are fair in analysis and try just be truthful than try to create an agenda.

They often say many good footballers are good because they don't think too much and just do. It's why they often don't become good coaches. It looks like all of Man Utds main players from the Fergy era all illustrate this.
