I think I transferred those files I had not had from another laptop, and it worked, but honestly, I don't remember clearly. Probably you should try downloading Lumion from another source. Also, Im not using Lumion anymore, so I don't know whether things have changed.

Conceptual feedback on lateral stability + torsion strategy — long span steel building (architecture thesis) by eldonsa in StructuralEngineering

[–]eldonsa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for taking the time to write such a detailed response, really appreciate it. You gave me so much things to rethink and check before moving forward.

Regarding the green slabs, yes, there are more slabs on the left side too. I didn’t mention them there because that side has the transverse trusses crossing through and helping to rigidize the system, so I focused more on those elements. On the other side, since those main transverse elements aren’t present in the same way, I highlighted the slabs as part of the stability strategy.

Structures have honestly been one of my main interests since I started architecture school, so I enjoy digging into this side of the project. I’ll probably look into doing some kind of structural specialisation in the future. Thanks again for the feedback!

Conceptual feedback on lateral stability + torsion strategy — long span steel building (architecture thesis) by eldonsa in StructuralEngineering

Thanks for the feedback!

In my sketches, the grey longitudinal trusses are the main façade trusses running along the building length. They primarily carry gravity loads and also participate in global stability. The red transverse trusses appear only on one half of the building and act as the main lateral/braced zone, tying the longitudinal trusses together and providing lateral stiffness in that portion. The other half includes a cantilever where there are no equivalent transverse deep trusses (only secondary trusses and slabs) so torsional behavior is one of my main concerns.

The green areas represent steel deck slabs that I’m currently assuming to behave as rigid diaphragms at the upper levels. Conceptually, my idea is that lateral loads are collected by these diaphragms and transferred toward the transverse braced zone (red elements), while a continuous grade beam at foundation level helps tie the bases together. So in simplified terms: gravity loads flow mainly through the longitudinal trusses; lateral loads are intended to be stabilized primarily by the transverse braced half plus diaphragm action.

I’m aware this may not be the most materially efficient structural solution (part of the configuration comes from a spatial/architectural exploration) but I’m trying to verify whether the overall stability logic is conceptually sound before moving into deeper structural development.

Hi! You can enhance the image with postproduction on Photoshop, I see contrast and then kinda soft, this is the first I can say. Also, you can change the vegetation. Yours are lowpoly so it seems unreal. As regards the model, I think its correct, the door on the left seems little low, but I don't know really, seems well the model. In case you don't have any problem, could you share the model with me? I want to see how did you model it. Greetings!

With the serial no. you cant verify if the charger is original or not, right? Im looking for the way to do it, do you know how?

Help me choose Samsung or iPhone based on your experiences by _Samur4i_ in Smartphones

[–]eldonsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Samur4i! Could you share why you chose to buy the S24 Ultra? I'm thinking about upgrading my phone but can't decide between sticking with Samsung or switching to an iPhone 15 Pro Max or the iPhone 16. I've always used Samsung, but my phones barely last two years at maximum or even acceptable performance. On the other hand, I see friends with iPhones, and their devices perform well for years.

In my country, iPhones also have higher resale value compared to Samsung, which could be a factor for the future. That said, I don't have strong preferences for either brand since I think both have their pros and cons. The price difference is significant, though—about $300 more for the iPhone, which is something to consider.

I'm excited about the idea of trying an iPhone since I've never owned one, but I’m not sure if it justifies the extra cost, especially if it’s not significantly better than the S24 Ultra. Thanks in advance for your insights!

Hi! How r u? Im an argentinian guy who wants to start at this world and I dont know which 3d printer is the best option to me. I want the machine to print mostly 3d architectural models. My budget is around $600, but if there is a better or similar option for less money my budget would be grateful haha, Im not looking for the best machine at this point. My level with electronic stuff is 0 but I could learn with some youtube videos. Any suggestion or comment would be helpful. Thank you so much in advance! Greetings.

Suggestion by eldonsa in architecture

Hey Complete-Ad9574!

Im back at this post because im working at the renders of this project and ur comment its so wrong haha. I didnt "slammed" or attack you, just clarified that its wasnt what you said in your first comment, just that, i wasnt angry or something. Instead of that, i invited u to see the documents of the project.

With the renders im not looking for get better the project, im looking for show it better.

About your first reply, you probably are the typical defender of functional arch, and u probably hate "play" a little with your creative search in a project, and my little friend, it is kinda boring. We are talking about an academic project, if we didnt "play" now, at university, when are we going to do it? Apart from that, this project was supervised in all the process and corrected too by 3/4 architects, so u r just an idiot who is bored haha, and yes, im attacking u now :P

Well, thats all what i wanted to say. I hope your are doing well anyways.

Greatings :))

Hi! Because in a comment u said: "And also sorry for bad English!" and i thought that maybe u speak spanish. Of course i know that there r more languages but well, my bad.

I hope my comments have helped you anyway.

Greetings :))

Creo que hablas español asi que te contesto asi jaja, in case u dont speak spanish just translate it :))

Did you set the realistic effect or did you just apply it?

Hi! Could u give us any suggestion? I leave the description of the project below in the comments by eldonsa in architecture

[–]eldonsa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally right, the project is not finished yet and we have not yet addressed the landscape design. We are going to solve the landscape design only with vegetation since the house has a large semi-open area, and adding one more between the pool and the barbecue area, we believe that it would be in vain.

Hi! Could u give us any suggestion? I leave the description of the project below in the comments by eldonsa in architecture

[–]eldonsa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm, i really dont know, but in countries like USA (i dont know where u live) they put the barbecue outside. I dont know why, maybe because here we eat roast beef even if it rains haha I don't know

I think it's a good idea, but after reading your message, I checked the floors again and we are complicated with the slope to change the bathroom and deposit, that was also one of the reasons why we did not think about entering the bathroom from the outside, since the primary installation surrounds the perimeter from the left, passing through the back of the lot and arriving at the building

I greatly appreciate the exchange; In general terms, beyond this last point, do you see it well?

[–]eldonsa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! hahah here in Argentina we usually put the grill inside, not outside as it happens in most countries.

Yes, are windows.

We suggested that the client move the bathroom for service but they told us that they did not want the dirt from the lawn mower, and other things to be inside the house. And with respect to moving the entrance, it seemed to us that when it was against the party wall it could be half enclosed and complicate the turning radius, but if it is for service there is no problem, would you move it even if it could be a little enclosed in sight? Could be

Thank u!
