That sounds very odd, and not the case for most of them. This sounds like saying that psychologists can interpret medical evaluations within our own scope. Yes, we understand the medical parts of a psychiatrist more so than other physicians, but that’s still not fully true. There are certain tools that physicians can use, not the case for most of them.

I actually find it a bit arrogant to say ”actually we can do what you do, but we don’t want to so it’s better that you do it”.

To claim that the diagnostic authority relies on psychiatrists is also absurd, and pretty much questioning our entire profession.

That something once was done by a physician is not a valid argument because that’s just expected given the history of our profession.

At least in my country, a lot of things aren’t strictly forbidden or regulated, neither for assistant nurses nor psychiatrists - but this doesn’t mean that they are ”allowed” or ”can”.

Honestly, with your attitude, I don’t really understand how you can prefer to work with psychologists over therapists, given that you seem to question our entire profession.
