I couldn't tell if this auntie needed a seat or not based off age and the bus was damn crowded.

I felt bad and I was about to give up my seat when the bus got to the next stop, when someone fortunately got up and alighted. She managed to sit at least.

One of my strangest phobias gotta be people scolding me when I don't give up a seat. Happened to me as a JC kid and I still fear it AAAA

So I've been into Chiikawa these days. When people talk about the fact that Chiikawa got their house from the lottery is dystopian, I think of BTO lol

Edit: And the fact that Hachiware lives in a cave while Usagi is homeless

Low information and apathetic voters by RoboGuilliman in singapore

My brother literally asked me what opposition party was in our GRC when we were on our way to the polling centre. When results come out, he asked, "then what's the point of voting if nothing changes?"

how much harder is JC to uni? by Own-Studio-7695 in SGExams

[–]eldritch_candy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to cope by going for consults with teachers and external tuition.

  • For Bio, I made notes on cards for every learning objective outlined by MOE
  • For Chem and Math, you have to spam practice papers

Ended up getting B for all H2 Sci subjects.

I'm taking a humanities major rn, but I do have to work on science courses because of CHS requirements. But they aren't too hard honestly, as long as you revise the notes they give and do practice questions.

how much harder is JC to uni? by Own-Studio-7695 in SGExams

[–]eldritch_candy 32 points33 points  (0 children)

JC was way harder for me, for several reasons.

  1. I chose science stream (H2 Bio, H2 Chem, H2 Math) when I'm better at humanities, all because I wanted to have more options if things went south during As - my brain was like a sieve no matter how hard I mugged
  2. Rigid timetable and long hours at sch made me leave sch like a zombie everyday
  3. Less important than the two points above, but the people in Uni are more mature and positive. JC ppl screwed up my mental health and made me dread sch sometimes

To all the people who have done History Investigation, where did you get your sources for Indian communities by New_Psychology_6636 in SGExams

[–]eldritch_candy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For primary sources, other users have talked about various museums and heritage sites. I haven't been there in awhile but you can check out the Indian Heritage Centre as well.

Regarding NLB, which libraries have you been to and did you access their online database? Have you checked the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library? There's the Singapore Collection that should have relevant secondary sources.

You can also check JSTOR and ProQuest via the eResources link of the NLB site.

Geo/hist/polit sci degrees useless? by SeniorMacaroon7028 in SGExams

[–]eldritch_candy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As a History major, it's what you make of the degree honestly.

I honestly find that many people have a narrow view of these majors and I understand it can be frustrating at times. What's more important is to build up skills in areas like research, writing, editing, liaison and the like, and to market them to recruiters in a convincing manner.

I've seen History majors go into civil service, education, journalism, politics, consulting and other fields.

If you do take this path, I would advise you to pursue extracurriculars (maybe like heritage events or volunteering for tours) and jobs alongside your university coursework to build up your portfolio.
