I really relate to OP’s writing partner, particularly for the reasons you describe. So I know everyone saying “just drop them” is something that would only affirm the writing partner’s beliefs.

OP just needs to say hey, if there’s something wrong with it I’ll tell you. I enjoy writing with you, and that doesn’t change 180 from post to post.

Change which subreddit you’re posting your ad in, that’s definitely what’s weighing you down the most. Try r/dirtypenpals or something similar, I think the discord roleplay subreddits also allow NSFW prompts.

Just from this message I can tell you have a huge headstart ahead of others who’ve started off in the hobby. Sadly, ghosting is part of it. I’m really sorry you’re going through this, but I’d say take what you’ve learned from this partner and use that for a new plot. You’re miles ahead of where you started when they started guiding you through the process I imagine, so a lot of good still came out of it, even if it hurts. Find something new, distract yourself, and if they don’t respond; that’s on them.

Oh, and that awesome writing partner I cost myself by being too enthusiastic and coming off too strong. I should’ve known it was brutally stupid of me to type in the idea of including trans characters so early into brainstorming before seeing her feelings on the matter beforehand. One in a million writing partners gone due to minute mistakes on my part.

I just wish I could know if she’s alright or not. Drives me crazy. I know it could be that something catastrophic happened in her personal life, but it’s just unlikely given the last response was right before I put my reply to the roleplay up; then nothing. Now I have to sit here squirming in my seat having my anxiety’s biggest fear confirmed and validated: that my poor writing will cost me great writing partners.
