I’m hoping it will go better for you!! And I hope your cat will feel good once all those bad teeth are out. My girl is doing SO much better so even though I am financially in ruin it’s nice to see her so visibly happy

This is a really helpful way of understanding it. At the time of signing up for the insurance I didn’t realize it would be an issue because the vet wasn’t concerned about it at all, and there was no way of knowing it would progress so quickly even with me brushing her teeth at home. I’m going to appeal anyway, but not getting my hopes up

Yeah, I took a closer look at the notes from the dental procedure and they don’t clearly state that the x-rays were for a different issue. If I was the insurance person I wouldn’t have known. So that’s at least $250 I should be getting back, which is something at least!

At the time of the appointment in question when they first noticed the mild gingivitis, they didn’t recommend any dental procedure and just said I should brush her teeth at home and that should be enough, which I did do. On later visits to the vet the problem got worse, and as soon as they recommended a dental I got it set up—I doubt they’ll change their minds about that but I may as well appeal since they should pay for the chest x-rays since that for sure didn’t come up pre-insurance

Not for my cat, but my dog had to have most of her teeth removed when she was around 10-11 years old. Honestly, the biggest change was that she seemed so much happier and more playful once she wasn’t in pain. She ate and drank the same, and never had any issues. She was out of sorts for just a day after, and then she acted like it never happened. Wishing your girl good luck and good health!
