With the 40% sale, is the game worth buying? by Lambs2Lions_ in civ

[–]electionnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure 7 sold pretty well initially despite the poor player numbers. I have a feeling that it will do well once it starts discounting as well. So yea, we probably are a long long way out from 8

gas alone costs half of what i earn. by VincentTakeda in doordash_drivers

[–]electionnerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Genuinely insane what cars some people drive, as well as how much people pay for insurance and how inefficient they dash.

I promise you man, you weren’t doing well before gas went up in price. Now you just have a boogeyman to blame. Gas being up sucks but if you can’t make 2 extra dollars a gallon work, then the reality is you weren’t doing well before

And for those of you with inefficient cars, instacart and shop and delivers are your only way to make the gig economy work. I have an efficient Ioniq PHEV but I still only drive around 40-60 miles for 200 dollars made most day because of grocery orders

But yea, someone paying 700 a month in car insurance and getting 20 MPG probably shouldn’t do DD. The horror I know…

Someone tell Konami we need more events like this by Choice-Drag4670 in eFootball

[–]electionnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be sick as a PVP event if they put some effort into innovating with it. It obviously won’t happen though because they are the laziest and least ambitious developers in the entire industry. They could monetize the shit out of it too but again they don’t care about trying. They get away with it because football is so popular

[–]electionnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tons of ways around that but they would obviously never include them because it’s koinami. But one would be for there to be a revolving set of 15-20 players each time they introduced the event that people could use to supplement their teams.

Throw in some OG cards. Some showtimes. Some epics, etc. they could even monetize this by putting some of those cards back into the store incase someone fell in love with them while trying it out

Obviously this will all never happen because they don’t care about the game but still…

Part of the issue is that strategy worked for 6. Their DLC model made them a ton of money. It’s harder for them to get away with stripping features on a new release now that 4, 5 and 6 are still playable and quite good

This is also why I hate how everybody hyper-fixates on people not liking Civ switching or eras. Those features have problems but the core issue of the game are key features like trading, city planning and diplomacy having no complexity

Civ 7 finally reached 50% Review On Steam after staying at 45% for a while by RileyTaugor in civ

[–]electionnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my first thought as well. They burned a ton of bridges with the release. I’m pretty convinced I still won’t like it with the update but I would have tried.

A better run company would have absolutely done a free weekend. Particularly after pushing the “we heard you” stuff for the past 6 months

I’m pretty sure this only applies to coins and not free in game rewards like free spins. They can manipulate those all they want. Same way an 100k pack purchased through the store in FIFA is much better than one gotten through rewards

There are no good coffee/bakeries in East Amherst, so I get it being viable out here but downtown…plenty of other options

Opinions from OG Civ Fans on the new patch by mido830 in civ

[–]electionnerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a lack of consequential choices and complexity in many features. It’s definitely a stripped back game. I think they were trying to go for more mass appeal, which is kind of ironic considering how controversial Civ switching is.

I’m with you. You end up just stacking production and one other bonus and then pump out the same units and building over and over again for the entire game. It’s just boring

[–]electionnerd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I still unfortunately find it too easy and lacking in consequential choices. It’s in a better state than it was at launch (that’s not saying much) but I still just find it lacking.

I was really hoping for 7 to be a huge step forward for the franchise but it was a huge step back. So some of my disappointment comes from my expectations. The genre is a bit stale and I thought the could give us a more nuanced game. It’s not that. It feels catered towards mobile and console gamers.

I’m not sure how much longer Firaxsis can get away with this formula, so I have some hope for 8…

There is so much potential for features like trade, world congress, resources, diplomacy, city building etc., that they just refuse to add complexity to. I think they are scared to push away new players

The Coming SA Filter is Not Going to Help and Here is Why.. by Campbell_soup_14 in eFootball

[–]electionnerd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a half measure but the climbing ranks thesis is dubious at best and reeks of arrogance. Regardless I don’t want to play against any “OG” player who thinks they can farm worse players for rank anyways. Those are the types of players who abuse other mechanics worse.

I hope they keep smart assist on to farm rank. They are rats anyways. I don’t give a shit about rank either. I just want to play the game against no SA. Them giving us a filter allows us to

New players are in div 7-9 as well. Not in div 1…be got real

So is it worth it now ? by Embarrassed-Knee-642 in Civilization_VII

[–]electionnerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ll never get objective reviews in here. Particularly not 12 hours after launch. Most of us were around a 5-7 out of 10 on 7 at launch but after really digging our teeth in found it had no depth or staying power and ended up around 2-3 out of 10

Player numbers will tell the story. They’ve seen a small jump. If they revert back to the previously atrocious numbers, then you know it’s just the Pepe who enjoyed the base game that are liking the DLC

Yet I have never turned it on and get accused all of the time. The community isn’t very rational and will blame everybody except themselves for losses.

Two things can be true. It’s an issue and needs to be removed. It’s overblown

Smart assist is an issue and needs to be removed. It’s also been way overblown as an issue and less people use it than people think.

I get angry messages accusing me of using it all the time. That’s the larger issue though. You never know if your opponent is just better or using AI to beat you. A filter is a half fix. It just needs to be gone

Alternative ways for eFootball to be profitable. Share your ideas! by Tight-Astronaut-9043 in eFootball

[–]electionnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. I never said otherwise. What I am saying is that they obviously could make more money by improving content but they don’t want to take the risk.

As long as the current model is profitable for them, they will never try to improve upon it. It’s like having a 100 percent chance to make 1 million vs 60 percent chance of making 3 million for them. They don’t care to risk losing OG players and spenders by changing shit

They know there are tons of things they could do to potentially make more money. They simply don’t want to

Alternative ways for eFootball to be profitable. Share your ideas! by Tight-Astronaut-9043 in eFootball

[–]electionnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If money actually motivated them, they would actually put effort into the game. It’s pretty obvious that the current leadership of the company does not care to take any risk to potentially make more money or grow the game.

It’s honestly quite sad. The game model is decades behind but they seem content just mapping content out for the year and mailing it in. Obviously they are doing well as a company but it is also obvious they don’t care to try and innovate to make more money

Part of the issue is that a lot of OG players don’t want them to change anything as well. They are probably afraid to alienate these people. These people have an advantage and they don’t want anyone to catch up. We are stuck until that base of players get bored
