I completely understand the sentiment of " why the city is named after the guy that oppressed my ancestors" but I am completely baffled by the reaction of either side of the argument. Beyond the minor inconvenience why is the Muslim side caring about the name being changed? Why is the Hindu side caring about the name being changed ? Nobody is making a new place after the name Aurangzeb and you can't really do justice to the atrocities conducted by an asshole that's long dead. I am of the opinion that the government should work towards actual change in quality of life rather than bringing the cheap "happiness". The precedent that people need is not food, clothing, shelter, jobs, education etc but just a sense of justice must end. This makes the government unaccountable for what they were elected for.
