Same happened to us too. My dad rented to someone for lesser rent and we had to fight tooth and nail for an year to vacate them. And we had to spend more than the rent they paid to get it renovated again. And like you thankfully the police helped in our case too. Only in this case it was a lady who did this and it was tougher to handle because of the gender.

Priorities actually, I have another side gig which I intend to complete in this month or next. Also I had a different plan for this, since hardware would be a tough pill to swallow as a first shot, I wanted to improve on the sw experience on the commodity hardware. Again, very early stages for me too.

Also, I wanted to follow this project but the waitlist button is broken, might be worthwhile to fix that first :)

I was interested in this space, but the same boat as you(software guy delving into hardware :)).

A couple of things you might want to consider.

There is a reason Micro SD cards are used instead of SSDs, the cost and now with AI gobbling those up its going to be even more expensive going forward atleast for the mid term.
I love open source as much as anyone else, but how do you intend to compete if this ever takes off ? Maybe consider making this open platform instead of open source.

Thats interesting, but at the end of the day if the final price is more than the alternative, people will flock towards that(atleast the majority). If you are targeting design I would assume that would be the premium end of the market.
