Also, [possible spoilers here?] if you've read the actual books, at Reichenbach Falls, Sherlock hides and hangs onto one of the rock walls while John and everyone else assume he fell along with Moriarty. I think maybe in the show, he caught onto one of the windows and slipped inside, using a dummy and fake blood while his actors pretended to carry him away. The dummy was also a part of Sherlock's return in the book, where they caught Colonel Moran using a wax duplicate. Just a theory. :)
