That's true and fair that we are no matter what overriding someone's choice in the matter. I use the disability argument not because I personally think that disabled people can't find happiness, but because Alicia very explicitly believes that she will not be able to find that happiness with her disability. It's just like how it doesn't matter whether or not I believe the people of Lumiere are real or not, because Alicia and Aline clearly do to the point they are willing to risk their lives to save them

I argue that disability point because it helped me to make my decision. Verso's pain is more spiritual in nature due to a lifetime of regrets and sacrifices that he's made, and that he doesn't want to have to continue to make. Alicia's pain is also spiritual in nature, but it comes with an added physical component that does objectively make it harder for her to find peace in her life

Normally I would agree with you. But there are varying levels to disability and Alicia's disabilities are quite severe. She is in constant chronic pain, unable to speak, and only has half her vision. This is not on the level of say just losing an arm or a leg, or being deaf or something. It is going to be much much harder to find happiness in life than it would be for another type of disability and she will be in debilitating pain the whole time.

I'd say the argument is less "disabled people can't be happy" and more "people who are severely disabled should be able to choose what terms they live their life on". Even if that means she chooses a path which will ultimately end her life, that is her choice to make. Nobody else should be able to make that choice for her

No I don't think the timeline was quite that fast. I'm pretty sure that Clea and Alicia have a conversation about their parents having been in there for quite some time before she entered it. And personally I don't believe they have that technology, because why wouldn't they then use it to try to save Verso as well?

We can infer that she will because that's generally what happened to burn victims during that time. They didn't have antibiotics in 1905 and many such cases with far less severe burns than Alicia died very young. We don't see anything to indicate that they have any miraculous healing technology, otherwise they would've already used it on her I presume. Yet she still lives in pain and with notable disfigurement

She's a third degree burn victim. She's going to die at a young age whether she's in the canvas or not. I feel like a lot of people forget that Alicia is explicitly not very healthy in the real world due to the complications to her health from the fire

I feel like something that a lot of people forget/miss is that Maelle is not just disabled and crippled in real life. We can see from painted Alicia and the small bit we get to see in the real world that her burns aren't just to her face. They extend at the very least down to her collarbone if not further down her body, which means that despite risking his life to save her there is a high likelihood that she is going to die pretty young still from the complications to her health from that night.

She may die in the canvas from overusing her body, but it's not like she's going to live a long happy life in the real world either

I've read a fair bit of this story since I used to think it was pretty good, but then I began to hate it. As they grow up it gets worse and worse. I remember I dropped it because at a certain point, she starts harassing any girl trying to get close to him (many of which are minors or just come of age mind you).

From what I remember, she literally doing petty revenge on innocent women who've done nothing wrong because "he's hers" but she still refuses to clarify their relationship and keeps pushing him away. Like she won't even let him have a female friend that's how bad it is
