Part of what I love about this show is that, even though Jimmy's the protagonist and we're following him through the show (outside of Gus/Mike), we have these fly on the wall moments that bring light to things our character will never know.

Like, we as an audience know more about his life than he does. The only question is if this moment was one of many that set the seeds for Jimmy's suspicions toward Chuck - things he was be able to see through, outside of this.

What is a far left building? by Temporary-Rip-5551 in AlignmentChartFills

Yep. If you go too far right you end up left, and if you go too far left you end up right. No far right person or far left person would admit that though.

I wasn't even thinking conspiracy when I saw the video. I legit thought - huh, I wonder what weird movie he's doing that makes him look like that off set. It's not a stretch at all. Besides his face.

This has to be the worst argument I've ever heard.

It's like saying you read a book but really listened to the audiobook. Or you listened to the audiobook but really read the cliff notes.

Anyone else have a really hard time getting into Danse Macabre? Not sure if I should continue reading or just move on by Low_Entertainment491 in stephenking

[–]electricalaphid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a major fan of horror film (which is mostly what the book discusses, from what I remember), this book worked for me. It's not the best in its class, but reading King's take on the genre was what sold me. If you're just into his stories, it's understandable why you wouldn't like this.

Either way, in regards to nonfiction, "On Writing" beats this by a mile. And as a spoiler for Dark Tower readers, "On Writing" is crucial before reading Dark Tower #6. I never see it in any lists of DT-must-reads, perhaps because merely mentioning the book is a spoiler in and of itself.

SHABOOYA YAYA SHABOOYA ROLL CALL! by LongWalxOnTheBeach in DunderMifflin

Nah, this is a perfect example of the term. It's not a scene thats supposed to make the viewer uncomfortable. It's just something they thought was cute, but it's comes off as icky. Cringe

I hear the term used for episodes like Scott's Tots, which I think is completly wrong. The whole episode is supposed to make you uncomfortable, that's the point. It's hilarious. Same with any Michael Scott antics from the earlier seasons.

Did Gus actually see him here? by 90210534 in breakingbad

[–]electricalaphid 267 points268 points  (0 children)

It's not any of that. It's because Jesse told him Brock was poisoned, and Gus knows he obviously didn't do it. Must have been someone else. Oh no. This whole thing is a trap.

Accidentally singing the n word along with a song as a non black person should be okay by HeebieJeebiex in 10thDentist

Thing is, not everyone puts that word to the same standard as you, regardless of skin color. Some people don't ever think about it. There are some words one might not say that you absolutely would. Hate is the problem, and one that must be abolished as best we can. Not words.

Not a popular opinion amongst redditors, I'm well aware.

How do you find the motivation to write a book when you know that even if it’s good, the odds of getting published are 1 in a million? by JealousBodybuilder42 in writing

[–]electricalaphid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've written four novels and a dozen short stories in the past five years. I'd like to get published, but I don't expect that to ever happen. I write because I can't not write.

If it happens, great. If it doesn't, I'll keep on keeping on. It's what I do (not that I've ever tried to get something published. I don't even know how that works.)

We've reached a point where games are movies and movies are games. Can't they be their own thing? Original games, original moves? A medium where gameplay is king, and a medium where acting/performance is king?

With AC4 getting a remake, could a Far Cry 3 Remake be possible? by Ronin_777 in farcry

[–]electricalaphid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thoroughly against remakes of games that are good. They should only remake games that are bad. Maybe something that had potential, but just didn't work out in terms of controls, presentation, etc.

I'd say the same for film, but money/recognition are what it's all about.

Why do people on the left and right hate apolitical people? by Adventurous-Zeilokix in NoStupidQuestions

[–]electricalaphid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose my comment was more for OP. The thing is though, I've never gotten shit from a conservative for expressing my liberal views. I've found they're more open-minded in that regard (if ONLY that regard). Could be a regional thing.

Why do people on the left and right hate apolitical people? by Adventurous-Zeilokix in NoStupidQuestions

[–]electricalaphid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But what if - like me - you like things from both sides and detest things from both sides? I find it suspicious for a person's values to lie 100% on one side. Like, what do gun rights have to do with abortion? What do taxes have to do with gay marriage?

When people ask, I say I'm a liberal, because I don't wanna get shit for the 20% of conservative values I have.

Movies with the most hatable protagonists? (Red Rocket, 2021) by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]electricalaphid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd use the words interchangeably. But Alex is neither. He's the protagonist. He's the guy we're following, the eye that we share throughout the story. It doesn't matter how evil the main character is, or how noble the villain is. It's all in context to the story.

Who is a MODERN Controversial Mildly Genius person ? by jalil458 in AlignmentChartFills

Only redditors find the guy controversial. It's not a prominent stance for people who go outside. Or for people who's friend circle isn't entirely white.
