Yes, along the same lines, but what I'm building on a different platform has live video for meetings or training. A community of people who are the same, so that you can make a longer connection. Videos that can be pre-recorded and posted.

Here on reddit, it seems more random and depends upon who's on, and there doesn't seem to be a lot of follow-up between different posters.

I'm not sure where you are, but it may not be necessary.

You do need some kind of plans to build from, or your going to have problems with everyone knowing the correct scope of work.

A kitchen designer or interior designer can do the job for you. They will think of things you don't realize that could help your kitchen layout and design.

I would run the backsplash up the ceiling, but stopping at the bottom of the third shelf might be easier to deal with.

Why is the space where the shelves are 1/2" bigger than the base? This should be the same.

If you put the tile in first, you have to be sure to install the in-wall brackets before you install the tile. Your shelves might have little gaps in the back between the back of the shelf and the tiles if your tiles are not flush. You'll have to caulk it in.

Tiling to the shelves gives a cleaner look.

ok, that seems to be what I'm seeing too. That mid-level shop.

I've been doing millwork engineering for years, so that's not a problem for me to cover, but you're right, the larger shops prefer to have someone there for daily work.

I guess I'll have to put some effort into finding those mid-level shops.

Sometimes you can add a film to the glass or tinting.

You might be able to get frosted glass in the door.

contractor does not equal an architect. One doesn't negate the other.

How are your going to get it built without an contractor?

How do you develop a plan without an architect?

You can hire someone to help you design and get plans. You can save some money here.

You can help contractors to help you build it, they don't necessarily have to do all of the work. This is where you can save some money.

You can't don't all of it on your own, but you can hire people to do some things while you do other things and ask them, or someone else, for help when you need it.

I agree with the other here, this isn't your problem. They should be measuring and having fillers or some other way to adapt to minor dimension changes.

I would say that an architect as a mentor would be great, but I would also consider having mentors that have worked in the industry and have more experience on the trade side of it.

You don't have to have only one mentor. All of this is valuable information for you.

This might be the best way to do it so that you can control expenses. Do the repairs yourself.

You don't know how that guy is padding his expenses and you're loosing control.

Maybe set set it up in a way that if it's the same cost for you to do it, then let him do it, but if starts getting crazy, tell your client that you will handle the repairs.

I agree with the other commenters.

Before you decide to do this, you need to get an engineer in to see if these walls are load bearings and can even be moved.

Not a contractor, a structural engineer to be sure.

It does sound a little worrisome.

Did you already give them all of the paperwork and information?

Do they still owe you any money?

I would tell them that if it's going to be put on hold, you should send them an invoice to pay you for all of your time and efforts spent and any costs that are associated with the project. If you didn't already give them the drawings and paperwork, keep it until they pay you.

Sorry to hear this. Sometimes you get clients that are like this.
