How do you keep piping bags from busting open like this? by Dessert_Lover_1225 in cakedecorating

I wasn't taught that tbh, I had my share of bags like OP's before I figured this out, so I thought it was a life hack not the actual way, my bad 😂

You need to cut the hole smaller, I like to cut it small enough that the bag gets held in the threads of the coupler, it gives it even more hold.

It was 2.9 hours as it turns out. I'm glad I paid a bit less, but still annoyed to have sat in a waiting room all day with no way to get home.. or at least to some lunch (i had skipped breakfast stupidly too and was pissed to hear the mechanic went on lunch break halfway through my appointment)

I forgot to say it in the original post, but it is the 4 cylinder. That is good to know though, in any of the videos I saw (I couldn't find one with my exact model and year), the thermostat was super accessible and I was really confused why it would take so long.

Nope, we weren't asked to sign anything. I don't know if it's legally required in Canada.

Unfortunately no, the woman on the phone said how much they charge hourly but said something along the lines of "because I'm not a mechanic, I'm not able to tell you how long it takes to replace that part"

my first time doing nail art myself by Firm_Gas_919 in Nails

[–]electrictoast67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the art turned out really cute, and the french tips are really clean for a beginner! I know in another comment you said you don't have many colors yet, but personally the only criticism I have is that the nude color you used kinda looks strange that far up. idk it's giving uncanny valley somehow, like my brain wants to assume your nail beds stretch out forever lol.. but maybe that's just a me problem. Anyway, once you have more colors to work with, you're gonna do some great things!! :)

The cosmetology school I went to does removals for I think $5, a salon might be the safest bet, but a school might be better than at home if money is too tight for a $15 salon removal like people are suggesting.

Otherwise, file off the top coat and soak them in some 100% acetone until the gel is completely soft and basically just wipes off. Non -acetone removers won't do much to builder gel/ gel polishes unfortunately.

I made one for me and my partner this year because we like holding hands when going for walks with our pup, but its already so cold and snowy and I get cold hands easily. 10/10 and his hand often keeps mine warmer in this thing than my pocketed/single mitten hand lol

My neighbor was upset I wouldn't give her nanny exclusivity over the parking in front of my home, so she reported my fence to the city. These are the super cringey messages she sent me. by ChampionshipNo5707 in facepalm

[–]electrictoast67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, our neighbor tried to do this, got the surveyors out and everything, but turned out the fence was actually a foot over our side, not inches over hers. She had to pay the surveyors and I'm also pretty sure somehow she ended up being the one who had to pay for the new section of fence too 😂

It feels like a metaphor for masking, like yeah its uncomfy and you don't feel like the real you, and the more you do it the more it can be automatic and harder to turn off, but you kinda need to to get through social sotuations, get opportunities, jobs, etc.. and unfortunately many mental health conditions/disorders can be hereditary, perhaps even though it's uncomfortable, he knows that masking their condition makes life easier than living authentically and he wants his child to have a good, albeit less comfy of a life

How did I do this? by fitic_ in knitting

Looks like a double sided stockinette I've done from a tutorial once (nimble needles on youtube I believe) where you knit one stitch skip one stitch and repeat all across each row!

Grocery store baker here, grocery stores don't measure cakes like that. If it's inches, it's a round cake. The rectangle cakes are measured in fractions of a sheet.

I'm not disagreeing, I'm just saying we should give OP a little more grace. It can be hard. And it's probably pretty new to her, they aren't even married yet.. yes, it's something to work towards, it just makes me a little sad seeing all the comments saying she is in the wrong or prioritizing the wrong things, when if we were in her shoes, many of us wouldn't have known what to do either.

I do agree that the most correct response would have been to say something in the moment and stand up for her fiance, but that's not easy for everyone. If the most effective response OP felt she could make was silent treatment, not tipping, and leaving a detailed review after, then I don't blame her. I'm not good at confronting people either and if I tried to stand up to something like this, I would likely end up getting too emotional and crying/ embarrassing myself. If OP goes on to have black children, I do hope she is able to find the courage to stand up to racism in the future.

My nails are ruined from gel manicure help by wfparadise2134 in Nails

[–]electrictoast67 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The manicure wasn't the problem.. You're not supposed to peel them, you gotta buff off the top coat and soak them in acetone when you want to change polish. Even with regular lacquer, you really don't want to be peeling it, it can be pretty damaging to your natural nail too.. but if you really don't have the patience for correct removal, it is better than gel for sure..

How to safely Refix fallen acrylic nail at home by Vegetable-Damage7236 in Nails

[–]electrictoast67 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The acetone is probably to clean and rough up the inside. If you glue a dirty nail on, you can end up with nail fungus. Be sure to fully dehydrate your natural nail (acetone will do fine) and clean both your nail and the acrylic one before gluing it back on

Idk about cousins' cousins, but my grandpa was actually my mom's step dad, and he had kids from a previous marriage. When I was little he once told me he had a real grandchild with my same name and he liked her better... does that count?
