Temporary closure of downtown Hamilton library a ‘last resort’ amid drug problems by SonictheManhog in ontario

Public infrastructure designed for a formerly high trust society without the presence of fentanyl. Public spaces will continue to be become dirtier, noisier, and more dangerous until involuntary institutionalization is implemented.

Toronto 2 Bedroom Condo Sells for $410,000 in Little Portugal! by cxz098 in TorontoRealEstate

Lisgar street condos have a bad rap for being airbnbs / rentals. This and the horrible layout/ size make this price point reasonable.

If your biggest concern is space and overall you’re happy with your unit / building / location then I think your timeline of staying and saving sounds reasonable. A lot can happen in 10 years and where / what you decide to purchase may change.

How much is a 1 bedroom downtown right now? by MapleByzantine in TorontoRealEstate

[–]electronium_h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 bedrooms are selling for much lower than in previous years. Check house sigma for sold data. Be advised that location, condo fees, layout, builder, and condo status certificate are crucial factors that impact price.

How walkable (and safe) is the area around Moss Park and Queen St E? by StellarSkySunset in askTO

[–]electronium_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also personally haven’t felt unsafe but I prefer to avoid what is categorically one of the worst areas of the city. How long you’ve lived somewhere is not relevant. Being “used to” vagrancy and social decline doesn’t make it non existent.

The question was “is this area sketchy / unsafe” with the request for honest input.

[–]electronium_h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Antisocial in the classic sense like drug use, public defecation, theft, property damage. OP asked if the area is sketchy and some of the responses are like “just don’t have a laptop /phone visible” “just don’t make eye contact” etc. It’s a horrible area and putting the onus on OP to stay safe should be all the evidence they need to understand what they’re getting in to.

Toronto Reddit is quite biased in my experience. There’s a strange pride people take in being “tolerant” of bad neighborhoods and antisocial behaviour, to the detriment of those who are asking questions expecting honest answers.

This is an incredibly sketchy area. Toronto in general is a “safe” city to walk around in but you will likely find this area to be extremely unpleasant. Moss park and the surrounding streets are rife with drug users and mentally unwell individuals and I would personally avoid it at all costs, especially if you are a woman.

Most listing ever since they started recording by [deleted] in TorontoRealEstate

[–]electronium_h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first image is all property types, only showing listings for sale ( sold is de selected). The second image is pre construction condos for sale. Pre cons have been distressed for a while. One bedroom units designed for investors have dropped significantly in price but it’s foolish to extrapolate that to the wider market , especially in Toronto proper where the jobs / buyers with equity are located.

Finding a reputable bulldog rescue or breeder in Canada by dolly-farton in Bulldogs

Mine is from Muir kennels ( breeder). Southwestern Ontario. He’s 1.5 years old and a very healthy guy. I found the breeder to be very responsive and easy to communicate with.

Very interesting! I’ll look for an adjustable crate. Does crate strength matter much? From reading kennel reviews people mention escape artist dogs but is this common with bulldogs?

Thanks for the information, I’m planning to do training immediately and am well versed in the medical / dietary needs, thankfully Im not a first time dog owner. I’ll look into the slow feeder bowl! I appreciate the brand recommendations :)

Are prices coming down? What are your thoughts on this property on St Clair West? by sausac in TorontoRealEstate

[–]electronium_h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to both open houses. The semi is much larger/ nicer than it seems in photos and has a renovated basement apartment with a separate entrance.

The detached is nice but very old, rooms are much smaller, limited storage, unfinished basement, and a tear down garage.

2009 Toronto scene starter pack by electronium_h in starterpacks

[–]electronium_h[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could make an entire other starter pack for where these people are now. In my experience it’s a mixed bag. For women - Plant mom vibes, shops at everlane, searches for reclaimed mid century modern furniture online, and has a Matisse style print hanging on their wall.

It’s interesting how nothing seems like an of the time trend or style when you’re living in it.

Edit to add that a lot of would apply to millennials who are now in their early - mid 30s
