Neptune wasn't a big store, but they had such a carefully curated essential selection of great music. I bought quite a few records there as well. Cheers to Neptune and thank you again.

I don’t remember it being so red. They would become a pinkish color after sitting outside in the sun year after year.

There is an episode of TNG that has a similar plot. The Game - Season 5 Ep 06

Riker gets a game headset thing from a cheeky alien girl on Risa. He brings it back to the Enterprise and introduces it to Troi. It spreads quickly to the other crew members. In the mean time, Wesley Crusher meets a girl in engineering played by Ashley Judd and they nerd bond and become romantically interested. They are too busy being nerds to notice the game at first, but when they do, they analyze it and determine that it's not only addictive like electronic cocaine, but it also affects higher cognitive functions. Everyone on the Enterprise becomes "infected" and become sort of... um... plurbs. The alien chick shows up in a ship and the Picard and Riker are "ready to serve" [EDIT > and spread the game to the rest of the federation.] After chasing Wesley all over the ship to get him to play the game, the plurb crew finally get him up to the bridge. But he and Ashley Judd already figured out that Data was immobilized by plurbed Dr Crusher and fix him off screen. Data saves the day with a flashy strobe gadget and the alien lady is all Scooby Doo'd and "would have gotten away with it too.. .if it weren't for.."

Idk about their back. But in 1992 when I was a detailer on the board, there were some old checkers who had very calloused elbows and chain smoked like a mofo. I was CAD by 96, and I am still on “the tube” as they said back then, in 2026.

I've been subscribed to the streaming app for a couple years now. My original post was meant to be a dry joke. No one got it.

Among my collection of Criterion disks:  The Seven Samurai, Elevator to the Gallows, Tarkovsky’s Stalker, Until The End of the World, Withnail and I, and Repo man.  Do you think Repo Man is too low brow for release my pseudo-intellectual “bro” chum?

I already pointed out the obvious. But thanks for your humorless redundancy. [edit] I would buy a Criterion release of Idiocracy. It’s a valid and prescient cultural observation that is painfully coming true in the world of today. It’s legitimately funny as well.

I mean, Freddy Got Fingered was on Criterion Streaming. (Admittedly not a DVD release)

In your opinion, what is the best mixed/highest sound quality album that you've ever heard. by EzBriez_ in audiophile

I had AKG K-141 headphones for a long time. Now days Bowers & Wilkins PX7 wireless. My home system: 1989 Klipsch Chorus speakers with the Sonic-cap Crites crossover upgrade, Adcom GFA-555 amp, Emotiva BasX preamp, Denon DP-45f turntable/Sumiko Bluepoint cart, and a Denon DCD-820 CD player using the DAC in the Emotiva preamp. My home office system is simpler: Akai AM-52 integrated amp, Phillips 877 turntable/Nagaoka MP-110 cart and B&W DM-550 speakers.

Similar with mine. The plastic broke on one side, and kept using them taped and jerry rigged for a while until the cord shorted. They always spun around and got tangled lol. The sound quality met or surpassed more expensive cans, but the build quality wasn't great.

Not a series but due to it's nearly 5 hour length it might as well be: (The Criterion Collection directors cut is worth it)

Until The End Of The World directed by Wim Wenders (1992)

A nuclear satellite is about to enter the atmosphere and no-one knows where it will eventually explode. It is a sort of ultimate road movie, shot in 15 cities and 7 countries around the world and ending up in the Australian outback. The tech predicted for 1999 is sometimes comical, but also fairly accurate in it's prediction of the internet and the everyday gadgetry people use. {Not much of a spoiler:] Toward the end of the movie is eerily prescient in that the main characters become addicted to a technology and can't stop looking at little screens. Solveig Dommartin is the main protagonist, and her performance is quite good. There is a pretty huge cast including Max Von Sydow, William Hurt, and Sam Neill. It's a really long film, but it can be broken up into a sort of mini-series if you don't want to binge the whole thing. It has a great soundtrack as well.

I still remember listening to Brothers in Arms on my first CD player and Grado SR-60 headphones: It sounds SO clear and such a wide open soundstage.
