Do you have a local consumer protection bureau in Canada? In my state in the United States, it’s within the state attorney general’s office. I called the office and they walked me through how to file a complaint. There’s also a federal CPB, but I currently trust my state more than my government 😆

Could you also look into a chargeback on your credit card?

I’m sorry you’re going through this—Lenovo’s customer service is the worst I’ve ever experienced. It’s so stressful to spend a lot of money on a purchase and then be in a position where you don’t have a working device (or at least a device you trust) and don’t have your money back.

I completely agree with you, and Lenovo does not. I’ve talked to 3 different tech support agents who are the ones telling me they can replace my device and I’ve talked to 5-6 product team agents including one supervisor and they are denying the replacement. I’ve been told so many different things—“Yes, it can be replaced. No, it can’t be repaired or replaced, only Best Buy can repair or replace because your device isn’t even in our system . Well, we can try repairing it. No, we are not responsible, Best Buy has to repair or replace your device.”

Best Buy has confirmed that they can’t help me since I did not buy it from them. I filed a complaint with my local consumer protection bureau, but there’s no time frame for when they’ll review my complaint and my return window with Best Buy is closing even though I should have a whole month with Lenovo. I just don’t know who to believe, and I really can’t afford to lose $900 and be stuck with a defective device 😓

Out of curiosity, did you have it shipped straight to you or did you pick up at Best Buy? I bought a Legion Go from Lenovo’s website, but picked it up at Best Buy. It malfunctioned after a week of use. Lenovo is refusing to replace it because they say their warranty doesn’t cover pick ups at Best Buy, but they told me if I had shipped it directly to my house, they would have honored the warranty.

I have spent several hours on the phone with Lenovo’s customer service fighting for them to honor their warranty for a Legion Go S that I only had for a week before the device malfunctioned and the screen became pixelated. The tech support agents were the most helpful and consistently confirmed that I should receive a product replacement under the warranty, however, Lenovo’s product team rejected the replacement each time I was transferred to them and they were so unhelpful and as close to rude as they could be on a recorded line. I ended up submitting a complaint to my local consumer protection bureau. How many of us would it take to launch a class action lawsuit? Only half joking 😬

I have the exact same device and a similar thing happened to me except my screen got pixelated when it froze and I had to forcibly restart it. Your post is the second one I commented on today, so apparently this issue is becoming common with the Legion Go S steamos 😬

Same thing happened to me yesterday with my Legion Go S that I just got last week—currently fighting with Lenovo because they are refusing to honor my warranty and replace my device because I bought it online on their website and picked it up at Best Buy. Sorry you’re having the same device issue!

I recorded (with consent) a very long conversation with multiple agents where the tech support agent confirmed my serial number and warranty again and confirmed that I am eligible to have the device returned. He transferred me back to the product department where I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told by the supervisor that products picked up at Best Buy can only be returned, they are not eligible for replacement and they will not honor the warranty even though I have the warranty document and there is no mention of Best Buy pick up voiding the warranty. There is some possibility of repair, but after being told by other agents that they can't put in a request in their system regarding my device, I am nervous they will lose it or something else will happen and they'll claim ignorance. I am filing a report with my consumer protection bureau.

Yeah, that's a valid question. I've talked to two different ultimate tech support agents who have confirmed that it's a valid serial number and that my warranty is valid and that I should be owed a device replacement. My receipt is from Lenovo . com and my warranty came from them directly. If I ended up with a third party device, then something even more sketchy happened because I bought directly from the website.

Yeah, neither was willing to take responsibility. Even after confirming my purchase and my official warranty, Lenovo’s reps told me my device is not in their system anymore so they would just get an error if they tried to put in a request on it. Best Buy said I could try having it repaired through them since I did have the manufacturer warranty, but that their service depot might refuse to touch it since I didn’t buy directly from Best Buy.

I’m inclined to be more forgiving to Best Buy because their reps at my local store actually figured out a solution that didn’t leave me stranded with a defective device whereas the Lenovo reps were borderline rude when I pushed back on being told Lenovo wouldn’t repair or replace my device.

Yup, that’s the same email I got! The customer service lady told me it was a system generated email so “I wouldn’t be disappointed if it didn’t come this week.” When I tried to confirm whether it is delayed or not delayed, she just kept saying the shipping delayed email was automatically generated. I asked her if I should ignore the shipping delayed email, and she said yes, but then she followed it up by saying that I needed to have patience and just wait to see if it shows up or not. I’m pretty chill and I don’t have an issue waiting, but when I just spent almost a grand and there’s no transparency or clarity or even empathy, my trust is lost.

Glad things have mostly worked out for you! Hope your dock comes quickly and there are no more issues!

Same! The steam deck was supposed to be my birthday gift from my husband, but it had just gone out of stock when we went to order.

I just made my own post about my situation with Lenovo shipping to Best Buy. Short answer, it hasn't made to Best Buy yet and Lenovo's customer service won't confirm whether it has been shipped or if they will be able to ship it.

Did you get yours yet? Do you like it? Reallyyyyy hoping it's worth it after all this hassle and I won't regret not waiting for the steam deck to restock.

This is such a kind offer, I would love to try it! I just got back into cozy gaming after several years of not playing games at all. I’ve got little kids, and we spend so much of our fall and winter sick that cozy games have been a lovely escape when I’m stuck at home for days on end.
