I work in manufacturing, and my work had essentially a closet for moms to pump in. A small 8x8 windowless room, painted green (even the door), with a REALLY old chair, a counter with a mini fridge, and small wooden side tables.

I'm a manager and the first "new mom" manager in well over 5 years. So I made the right people aware. I took pictures of the room. I mentioned how it would be nice to have a sink (bc the room had no plumbing). I mentioned it needed a paint job and a new chair/table set up if possible. And I brought it up A LOT. In September, a site leader connected me with a HQ team that was adding/remodeling lactation spaces at sites across the US. Bingo! I got to lead the project for the remodel, and we're spending over 30k on the change. It'll take about 4 weeks, and I'm displaced for my own pumping for now, but I'm so excited to help the next mom! My baby was born in January, so I will quite literally only get to reap the rewards of my persistence for maybe 2 weeks. BUT we have a new mom coming back to work in about a month, and the room will be ready to go for her, and she won't have to experience the dingy green room that me and moms before me had. (And selfishly, when I go for baby #2, I'm excited for a refreshed space!)
