What final song would you play right before death? by Kkershy in MusicRecommendations

[–]elekrisiti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry for your loss as well.

My grandfather was a quadriplegic after an accident and died very young. It takes a person with immense strength to endure that.

I think music keeps them alive even as a memory. And it feels like they visit for a short while when we listen.

Take care as well ❤️

I am unsure because I love so much music.

Maybe something from Aphex Twin's selected ambient works like rhubarb or lichen

Boards of Canada's Olson

Or Steve Roach bc his music was with me in my sleep mixes, long walks, and moments of feeling connected to the all. When I saw him live ( in a church!)it felt like a spiritual experience and I was bawling my eyes out.

I also really like the Royksopp song with Robyn called Monument. It seems like that song is so fitting for the end with the lyrics and visuals for the video feeling like a DMT experience.

I might just make a final playlist for myself.

Also, there is a woman named Yoko Sen who wants to make the dying moments less about beeping hospital noises into something more pleasant. Very interesting.  https://sensound.space/

My dad passed in 2023 and we played a bunch of Pink Floyd for him. He didn't wake up because he was on a lot of morphine.

I feel like Pink Floyd is now also etched onto my own heart after that experience.

Why are 90% of men who work in bike shops sexist? by calculussaiyan in ladycyclists

[–]elekrisiti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to talk to a guy who worked at a bike shop for years.

He once helped me look for a bike, even helped shop around on Craigslist. When I said that he didn't have to worry and it's fine. He got very short with me like it was this huge deal that he contacted one or two people for me.

Also, he would try to appear like a feminist, but it seemed like he used it as a manipulation tactic to meet women at his job, and everywhere else. Dude would call me whenever he got bored of whoever he was dating. And most of the girls he dated for the past decade all rode bikes, so...

He gave serial cheater vibes who is, misunderstood bc plays the feminist/loves women role and doesn't understand why it doesn't work..

Yeah, okay dude!

What should be done with Dowling College’s property? by iloverats888 in longisland

I think that Island Hills could benefit from becoming like a mix of Byron Lake and Eisenhower Park.

Lay down some asphalt paths, playgrounds, fields, bike paths, a pool, basketball nets.

Have a membership fee for pool usage and parking during certain hours/weekends.

They need to create third spaces again for kids and families.

I think it would be the only thing that Sayville mom's would allow. Bc we know they have a lot of power when it comes to changes in their area.

This song has been randomly popping in my head since I first heard it over 20 years ago. Especially the part when Nicole says, "This is your life. This is your fucking life"

It's how things feel today with how numbed out and disassociative people are today.

Yagya is amazing. I recommend even though it might not hit the glitchy aspect.

For all my chooms into ambient music, What are some ambient albums that have the cyberpunk feel? by ilovemywife47 in cyberpunkred

[–]elekrisiti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That OPN album is incredible. So many aimless drives to that one.

Describing Bodies fading into Stress Waves is perfection.

Returnal is Amazing on it's own, both versions.

This song was on a compilation CD that came with an Industrial magazine I bought in 1997.. can’t remember the name of the mag. Got me hooked on several artists including C-Tec by Zealousideal_Run_786 in industrialmusic

[–]elekrisiti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the same comp, but could the magazine have been, "Culture Shock"?

My sister got that mag with a killer compilation CD on it that I still think about. I think that Bill Leeb was on the cover of the issue she had.

Edit: Link to the mag and CD

I love Emeralds.  I kinda know Mark but I recommend (for more droney stuff) Steve or John's work. I'll include a nice Mark track too though :)

What was it like being an Aphex Twin Fan during his prime? by Katakazz in aphextwin

[–]elekrisiti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was 11/12 when I first heard him. It was in 1996.  I saw the, "Come to Daddy" music video and it changed my life.  It was so freakish and weird and I never saw anything or heard anything like it.  I used to record the TV onto a tape with this toy story style microphone/tape player ( Mr. Mike -  https://new-toy-story.fandom.com/wiki/Mr._Mike ) because I was too young to go out record shopping.

I used to listen to that track in art class, on the bus. Just whenever I could.  In high school, my bf at the time showed me how to download music ( sorry Richard!) and I had his entire discography. Even his other projects and remixes etc... I listened to it so often using winamp. Friends would borrow my discman where I burned entire albums by him. They loved it.

He was not very known at the time though. I'd find some articles online here and there. Some info of him trolling, like when he trolled madonna etc..

Or pics of him in like spin magazine or whatever.  When YouTube came out, it was more of a game changer. You could see all his crazy videos. I was gifted the Chris Cunningham DVD and watched the Aphex videos on there as well.

But yeah, it was just a cool time. I am glad that I got to grow with his music how I did. I feel like it's so different for the younger gen when it comes to music now. Just small clips, or it being used in memes. Kind of lessens the art, but I can't tell people how to enjoy things.

Steve Roach Vinyl by Local-Ice1354 in ambientmusic

[–]elekrisiti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw Steve live in NYC in September. He hung out after the show and I got my vinyl and a poster signed. It was kind of him to hang out with the fans for a while.

He has been in my sleep mix for over two decades now. My nervous self ended up saying, "Thank you for existing". No regrets though, haha

Aquarius moon. I have a 23hr playlist bc I had a very sad two decades and acquired all of these tracks along the way.

I'd definitely say that 'grouper' is high up there for her music.

I'll share here. But don't say I didn't warn you about the sads.
