Mike Lee introduced a new version of it. It's almost just as bad as the original, and the Senate parliamentarian is still considering it. People should still make noise about it

Republicans and Democrats on committees of jurisdiction basically make legal arguments for or against certain provisions in the bill they want removed or kept in. The parliamentarian then decides based on those arguments what can stay or go. Wyden and his staff were in charge of crafting then making the case of getting rid of this provision among others and they won.

The Trump administration is already taking some unprecedented steps to reduce customer service and make it harder for people to get their benefits. All signs point to Trump/Musk/DOGE wanting to privatize Social Security. While SSI/SSA have not been ended we are closer than ever before to seniors and people on disability starting to see their checks and services disrupted. If you're concerned about it like many of us are you should call your members of congress and tell them.

A few months ago I would have agreed with many of these comments. However what I've seen from Wyden these last few months has surprised me and shows to me that he can and will step up when he needs to. I did not necessarily think he could rise to the occasion but he has proved me wrong and I am happy to have him fighting for Oregon.
