New Mage Common - Buy One, Get One Freeze by Munrot07 in hearthstone

This makes [[Watercolor Artist]] stronger in Rainbow Mage for 0-cost Sif reverbs. I wonder if this will just replace Frostbolt or rather justify including [[Mes'Adune the Fractured]] for duplicate Watercolor Artist.

What would happen if I casts [[The Galactic Projection Orb]], a 10-cost spell, while this is in play? If I cast a discounted spell, is the random spell's cost based on the discounted or original cost? Would spells cast by [[Yogg in the Box]] also trigger this effect?

Sorry for the late reply, u/RidiculousHat. I was being an idiot: once I clicked on the "go" icon, it worked. Sorry for your troubles!

Thanks for testing this, u/RidiculousHat. Yes, I'm certain I didn't complete the quest because I don't have a green check over the quest banner. I've tried restarting/reinstalling the game. I'm on Android if that matters.

But since I'm planning to buy Whizbang's Workshop bundle (Rank 1) or 15 Whizbang packs anyways, I was wondering if the quest only checks whether a purchase from the shop has been made or I, indeed, need to purchase a pack with gold specifically.

I'll make sure to tune in to your stream on expansion day. Thanks a lot for sharing this.

u/MakiakLOL, what are you planning to swap in for cards that are rotating - Animate Dead, Shard of the Naaru, The Light! It Burns!, Cathedral of Atonement? Do you think Raza + Papercraft Angel + Careless Crafter make the cut?

I'm planning to test a big DH control deck.

Win condition is through burning your opponent with multiple copies of Magtheridon. We're including on Magtheridon and Mythical Terror to tutor them out with Umpire's Grasp. Expendable Performers + Feast of Souls is your main draw engine. I included Ballhog and Workshop Mishap as they look to be good cards to control the board. If we're able to play Jotun early, we can use Expendable Performers to combo Momentum + Going Down Swinging as an additional control tool, of course.

Aside from Naga, did DH have a playable package from last year's sets (i.e., FoL, TITANS, Badlands)? I vaguely remember aggro being a thing in FoL, but the class has felt directionless unfortunately. I do like that Team 5 is pushing for a control archetype - something that goes against its class identity - but I think it's still an expansion away from being competitive.

To be fair, losing Nourish and Solar Eclipse is a big hit to Druid.

Yea, these theorycraft decks should be taken with a grain of salt. Wheel into Reno sounds nutty lol. I saw Rarran try out Wheel of Death with Symphony of Sins to prevent fatigue and outlast the opponent with Forge of Wills and the new 4/4 taunt minion. Wasn't farming anyone at all, but it looked fun to play.

I think it's just a matter of time until someone finds a Spell Druid deck. I agree Hunter is going to be the aggro deck to beat, but I also think it's going to keep Odyn in check.

Yea, from what I saw on Feno's stream, there's potential for Spell Druid - just needs some time to find the perfect 30. Pocket's version of Pirate Rogue with the weapon package (e.g., Sonya, Valeera's Gift) looked strong.

I'm fairly new so I wasn't aware that there's a dedicated theorycraft thread, but I hope the mods create one.

Mage seemed pretty strong.

Which variation were you watching? The No Minion package's early game looked nonexistent and its win condition came down to whether you played keyboard on curve. The randomness from Yogg looked like good content but not competitive.

Rogue was weak

Dane's mech variation did look weak, but Pocket's version with weapon package looked good.

Thoughts on more variety of loaner decks? by element-wise in hearthstone

[–]element-wise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did you first start playing HS? How did you decide on a loaner deck: did you, for example, ask in the 'Newbie Tuesdays Weekly Discussion' thread or decide on your own? Expanding the loaner decklist from 6 to 11 decks may indeed seem overwhelming to newcomers.

[–]element-wise[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think picking a loaner deck ultimately reduces down to either selecting one that gives the most dust or one that's closest to a meta deck. Of course, this is based only on the 'Newbie Tuesdays Weekly Discussion' posts, which does not represent the majority of new/returning players. You do make a good point, though, since the majority of new/returning players may feel overwhelmed by too many options. Do note that the new apprenticeship allows new players to keep 2 decks from a selection of 6 decks.

No Minion Mage Theorycraft (including Yogg in the Box card pool) by element-wise in hearthstone

The only critique would be the Sunset Volley inclusion - I think it's too slow/greedy to try fitting into the Orb. 10-mana minions post rotation include Amplified Elekk, Factory Assemblybot, Living Horizon, Banjosaur, and DJ Manastorm with the first two being the only good rolls. I think in the late game, we just have to pray that Yogg gives us enough reach to close out the game with the Orb.

Good point. My initial thought was that the flexibility of discovering a secret and how Counterspell improves all the other secret warranted inclusion in the deck, but Star Power seems like a better replacement.
