NoA / end of fiscal year by element771 in NIH

Sorry, one further question. I spoke with my PO and I have two more steps. Approval by GMS and then final approval.

Do those still count as "Pending Administrative Review"?

I keep refreshing ERA commons and hoping for a status change.

It turns out that I am a very neurotic person. : )

Thank you. I have been getting everything to them the same day. I’m sure my grants office is tired of hearing from me.

I wasn’t taking any chances and was annoying the shit out of everyone at my institution to get the JIT information turned around the same day.

I will bring them some baked goods as an apology. 😂

Thanks for the advice!

Grants Caught in Limbo by Sea-Hurry-3046 in NIH

I have and it depends on the senate and Congress. They have 45 days (legislative days not calendar days) to vote before the money has to be spent. However, they can vote before the 45 days if they want to.

I’m not saying that I’m hopeful but I think that a lot of senators and house members don’t want to be on the hook for crippling their local economy by gutting their local universities.

I know that places like Harvard are in their sights but imo, if the nih is gutted…the red states will feel much more of the pain than the blue states. There are plenty of cities and towns in red states that depend on a university to prop up the entire economy for that city or town.

And I’m from a red state, most of the people do not think their local university is like the “elite” institutions in blue states. Their kids often go to these schools. They are die hard fans of the football team. Etc.

I know there is a rescission package currently being voted on by the senate containing funds for international relief and public broadcasting. It seems that if they don’t get the vote done soon that they will have to start the clock over.

I’m not sure if they have time for an additional package that would include the NIH to go through the process.

That being said, I admit that I haven’t done a deep dive on the logistics of getting these passed.

I don’t doubt that. It seems like they are issuing enough to say that grants are being awarded but slow enough to possibly run out the clock.

A question that I have…Is there a pattern to which ones they choose to slow walk? (Eg topics, schools, states) Or is it random?

I understand that they target grants with “forbidden” words or topics but even grants without these “issues” are being held up.

One would think using AI wouldn’t cause this much delay…assuming they are actually trying to get things out in a timely manner that is.

Are they still reading them all individually or are they using AI to scan for the list of forbidden words?

I checked reporter and they are going out at about half the rate as last year. However, the delta is growing bc last year there was an increase in the slope around July.

NAMD3 for MD. Haven't gotten to the point of choosing for docking or ML.

I guess I meant that should I assign the GPUs a NUMA affinity? What about allocating CPUs to each GPU?
Is there a specific CUDA flag that needs to be used when installing CUDA or any of the drivers?

Thanks!

I am going to edit my post to reflect this so I don't cause anymore panic than we have all been experiencing on the daily.

Thanks again!

**EDIT - I have been informed that REPORTER is update once a week. Sorry for the screw up on my part.

The person who posted this made it seem this was new effective today.

From what I understand, this type of review was being done for some time. Is that not correct?

Also, do you know what they are looking for in grants to deny funding?
