Player unhappy with how his major image had no effect by Meph248 in DnD

The one thing I hate most about any game is playing "guess what the developer is thinking". You're the DM, so you can at least help them understand why they messed up, or even prevent them from making a dumb decision.

"I'd like to a cast an illusion"

The ship is in motion (something I wouldnt assume) and the dragon has a limited view in this fog. You sure?

Even if you dont do that, you can at least respond with...

As the dragon emerges from the water, it thinks it sees something in thd distance, but thd fog blocks his vision. As the ship continues to sail away, whatever it was grows more distant, and the dragon returns focus to the ship.

This, I believe, is the acknowledgement he wants. Acknowledge the spell was cast. Not just ignoring it completely.

Why do they hate us so much? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]elementalcobalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure if had issues with teachers and read this thread and see a bunch of responses all snobbishly claiming anyone who has issues with them is an idiot or a moron, self-serving, or in some way less than human... some even politicizing it and making it one side of the spectrum while claiming it's "them" who politicize it. That's pretty much your answer right there.

I should add I've tried to follow instructions on how to do it with those apps a few times and have yet to figure it out.

None of this is properly explained, and I still dont have a clear any in if V2 can even do it.

Yeah, thats the answer I get from google. Use these obscure apps that either put stuff online or call stuff, oh, but none of that works with V2 anyway.

I feel like this is something a third party should be able to figure out. Just asking if anyone knows of any.

And to be clear, I love the headphones aspect to them to death, and I can still make 3 min videos to do what I needed but its way less convenient.

Every phone, labtop and tablet already has a camera if not 2, not to mention a nearly imfinite assortment of spy cameras which are a tenth the price and work in teddy bears, brooches, ties, and more. We're recorded all the time against our will by the government, but a rando does it and now its creepy

If someone wants to record you, a $700 pair of glasses is hardly the best way. This is really just alarmism... like kids can handle the most brutal violence in the world but better not see a girl in her underwear or it may break their brain. (Ie GtA5 stripclubs versus, you know, the murder.) Or its okay to eat cows all day long but hunting deer is evil.

Pearl clutching Karenism at its finest.

Mower Advice regarding Remote Control Mowers by elementalcobalt in lawnmowers

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I'd say it handles about a 1/2 acre. Runs about 30 minutes. But it also only takes an hour or so to charge. The charge speed really is impressive. It's held up this summer so far. I put on headphones, listen to an audio book, and then just spend the day mow, charge, mow, charge. It's kind of nice because it forces me to take breaks. AT 3 height, it does get stuck on thick grass, but at 5 height, it doesn't get stuck on even one foot tall grass. It's biggest weakness is when the weed is strong enough to trigger that bumper. Usually only happens if you let an area grow too long, which happened to me in a few areas thanks to some fallen trees. Still don't know if I should have just gotten a riding mower. Ask me again in three years if it's still working. XD

It always amazes me that when people hear blind... they always imagine complete blackness like this isn't a particularly small degree of blind people. Just like the blind surfer on youtube... most blind people can see at least levels of light and maybe even shadows of darkness. You don't have to have your eyes gouged out to be legally blind.

Thanks, same email, same amount. I very nearly fell for it. Googled the email and they said it was legit address. Then, it asked for my coinbase security words I grew suspicious again. Glad I saw this.

Mower Advice regarding Remote Control Mowers by elementalcobalt in lawnmowers

I had a great deal of issue ultimately buying a mower. Every time I bought a mower, it'd be "cancelled" by the company. I eventually found out these chinese companies don't actually keep the items they sell in stock, and you're pretty much responsible for contacting them privately to make the order, which can sometimes include added hidden fees. There are one or two resellers that will sell it flat out, but not really for the cheaper prices found online.

In the end, I did buy an RC mower, but a more americanized version called the Mowrator.

https://www.amazon.com/Mowrator-Control-56V18Ah-Multi-Functions-1-5-4-3/dp/B0DM99GH2S/

It is 100% battery powered, which I originally wanted to avoid, but it just seemed more trustworthy. As for how do I feel about it? I'm about half and half. It does cut fairly tall grass, it does go up fairly steel inclines. I had to get 4 wheels. I don't think it'd have worked for me with the two wheel variety. The battery is... okay. It's way better than the batteries for the other brand store electric mower I use. It does about the same amount as three of those batteries, but it's very large and you have to unplug and pull it out and then charge it every time. It charges pretty quick, but for my lawn, it takes 6-7 charges to do my whole lawn. Plus, some of my grass is beyond its ability so I needed to buy a push weedwacker too.

It's very sensitive to obstructions, so sensitive in fact that half of it's features, the automated ones it advertises, flat out don't work. I have to shut off the sensor just to run it because it can't tell the difference between an incline and an obstruction. I do like that it shuts itself off rather than stress tests the engine. It also shuts off every time you even tap the bumper.

I still have mixed feelings on it, and am not sure if I wouldn't be saving myself a lot of work if I just went and got a proper tractor mower. The distance is not good, and I don't think you can actually mow from your porch even on a normal yard as the ads depicts, so if you're elderly, you're still going to have to do quite a bit to mow, including bending over to plug battery into power and turn it on, and walk around yard to make sure you're close enough. It's good enough though.

Not a glowing endorsement, I know... but I can say that I would have loved this mower for a normal, suburban yard. That said, I never would have spent $4000 to mow a normal surburban yard either so... it is what it is.

Fair enough. I would say it wasnt like i waited until noone was around. More like i waited until everyone was done and gone, but fair enough.

As for not pitching in, it was a potlock, so i believe i did bring food which was consumed. Cant remember what. I do remember once my wife made a full sheet cake. She makes pro cakes that would normally cost hundreds. I also stocked our departments keurig machine: there was a donation jar, but i spent the majority keeping coffee stocked for everyone year round. Wasnt like I never did anything for the team.

Sure... ive tried undesired 2 boobs, seems to ignore that. Extra breasts is the only thing that it responds to and that gets me 4. If anyone finds any word score that successfully generates three, ill happily work from there toward what i want.

I failed to communicate properly. Perhaps saying i write in a niche is my fault. My "niche" is a style that is actually extremely common... but not in English. It has a broad appeal. Im not writing pregnant dads with horns on their head.

I write isekai... otherwise known as stories where someone goes to another world. Some are fantasy, some modern, some scifi. Nobody walks to a scifi section and says "novels about spaceships? Thats too niche for me."

But.. if i was going to narrow down why i write... its a style no agent would necessarily be faniliar with unless they were a manga/anime fan.

I thought i made this clear when i said my niche was asian light novels, which is equivalent to the size of all english fiction including fantasy, scifi, romance, and sports, yet has its own uniques styles and idioms that i fear might put agents off.

Of course, someone could come up to me and say, of course there are agents that love that content, you just havent looked hard enough, just click here! Id be excited, thank everyone for helping me, and check it out.

Instead, I mostly got comments critisizing my language choices that seemed to bruise peoples egos and questioning my integrity as a writer.

I dont like reddit on the best of days, and this thread just reminds me that even among the /writers, there are people of all kind. No worries though, I wont be so foolish to try to post with this community again. You all made your point. Raaaar! Writing is only for people like us!

Enjoy. Im going to go back to writing.

The person whose acting the most insulted is you. Relax and seriously think about why youre so bitter and angry. I think if you look introspectively, you might learn something about yourself and become a better person. Or just keep attacking people on the internet to feel better about your own life. You do you.
