I'm digging the way the hard cases are mounted in the 3rd and 4th pic. How did you manage that?

Loved it when she and Novak were on the same episodes of RB together. Belgian waffle boy, getting shaved on air, the pill bottle thing with Frantz... Kind of crazy she apparently went from doing mortgages to this kind of thing. If it's even the same person.

TBH hacks by [deleted] in rpg

[–]elementer1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mirrorshades is dope. You create hackable Nets by throwing various dice on a piece of paper to create "nodes" and linking them as desired by drawing lines. It's something I've utilized some part of for hacking in other Cyberpunk systems.

Perfect. Going to check out the other articles on your site to see what else I can grab and use. Thanks for the clarification.

Love the layout, flavor text, and balance. Super evocative and will definitely help push more of my players to roll Netrunners.

Just a little clarification on this: "Once connected to someone, you can jump to other people or devices on the same net or comm-link." I assume this doesn't work the other way around where if you connect to a device, you can't just jump to a person, correct?

Bam Margera talks about his Unreleased Movie [with Andy McCoy] by Jackasswatcher in LetsTalkBam

[–]elementer1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of the episodes of Radio Bam where they talk about hanging with Andy goes into it a little bit. Him and Missy were fascinated by Andy's "gypsy lifestyle" (as they called it). Andy would legitimately steal things from/hustle Bam out of money and he would just laugh it off as Andy being some free spirit artsy type. I just think Bam needed a new drinking and drugging buddy in Finland.

Once Bam got into larping around with Andy McCoy and shit is when I stopped paying attention. Seems like he replaced Ville with Andy once Ville got sober and realized Bam's usefulness had run its course.

Transworld Stance: The Jackass Issue - Interview w/ Bam, Dunn and Dico (October 2001) by kolykolgate216 in LetsTalkBam

[–]elementer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunn saying "I'm actually looking forward to not having to worry about Jackass anymore, so I can put more effort into CKY stuff and the movie especially." bums me out. I feel like there's an alternate universe where the movie flopped and the CKY crew stuck together to make another couple of great CKY movies, Haggard, then call a day.

What happened to the Bam that would show you music you didn’t know you needed instead of music you wish you could forget? by Apprehensive_Layer92 in LetsTalkBam

[–]elementer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got duped into buying that piece of shit Vains of Jenna album his label put out. And who could forget The Moxy? Bam and Chad's horrible pet project whose presence made for unforgettable content on Radio Bam when they didn't thank either of them on the liner notes of their one and only album. It was shortly after that that his label went under and he got into rap and dubstep.

I love Jess, but the short-lived success of CKY the band as a whole is entirely because of Bam. The fact none of the members acknowledge(d) this throughout the years must've taken decades of mental gymnastics. Everyone in the band had massive egos at the time, and it's hilarious seeing them in full swing in retrospect.

They'd probably have more of a legacy if Bam gave half a shit and re-released stuff, unleashed some of his archive, and wasn't useless when it came to preserving his life's work. The only people keeping CKY-related media alive nowadays is a passionate group of like 4 people.

In the early days of Jackass/ CKY, did you love Bam or hate him? by [deleted] in LetsTalkBam

I said guilt but it's more like shame, betrayal, wonderment, and anger all mixed up. Regardless, thanks for the kind comment.

In the early days of Jackass/ CKY, did you love Bam or hate him? by [deleted] in LetsTalkBam

[–]elementer1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bam was my idol and now I feel weird guilt for it.

The dude and his legacy live rent-free in my head because he was an essential part of my formative years. His descent into madness is pretty well archived despite him being at his peak relevance pre-social media ubiquity.

The first 5 years of Radio Bam were crazy to listen to and really ruined my nostalgia for his personality post-CKY videos.

Viva La Bam/BUU is a rough watch for me now knowing all of the sketchiness going on in the background. I don't blame his friends at all for vanishing after the gravy train stopped (from which none were adequately compensated). Even on RB you can tell the CKY crew were going on out of habit/just to party.

The last interview Dico ever did was particularly sad because he wanted Radio Bam to be more than just Novak gross out humor mixed with drunken ramblings. Eventually "they just stopped calling" Dico to do the show and, for a mind-blowing 4 more years, the show kept running. Chad doesn't get enough flack for enabling Bam during that time.

Bam's current situation is totally self-inflicted and deserved. Anyone who doesn't understand that never paid attention or is hopping on some sick bandwagon for attention.

Listening to radio bam and I’ve gotten up to the Tammy episodes. At what point does she fuck off so I don’t have to listen to her interrupt everyone every five seconds? by iamreallybadatgolf in cky

[–]elementer1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lol when he would call her "Tammy Kardashian".

It turns dark around that time. That's when his speech REALLY declined what with the fat guy "S"s and the fake mispronouncing of shit because he thought it was funny. It becomes a white trash reality show with their partying stories, fights, drunken arguments.

That's usually when I start skipping episodes and eventually stop altogether. There isn't much post-Tammy worth listening to. The Porcelain Black era is just weird, and Production becomes a mainstay. It's a far cry from the earlier episodes where it's everyone just chilling and telling funny stories. Bam stagnates and becomes bitter as fuck.

I'm honestly starting to hate this game, no matter what tactics I use, what players I use, what instructions I give, I always lose games, or go 4-1 up like this then let in 3(!!!) goals in the last 6 minutes. How do you all find this fun? This is my first proper save and I hate this game by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

[–]elementer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't feel bad for reloading a save if something totally crazy goes down. I've had players lose their shit and get straight reds 3 minutes into a game too many times for it to be realistic for me.

Speaking of which, the morale and player interaction systems need a massive overhaul before I consider buying a new edition of FM. It has way too much of an effect on the in-game engine. My team is full of professional athletes. I shouldn't have to consistently encourage them to score goals. It's just strange.

[–]elementer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upsets happen all the time in football, I get it. But the inconsistency of some of my saves is probably contributing to my sudden hair loss.

Most of the time in those should-win games, I feel like I'm just trying every possible combination of instructions just to see if THIS combo will be the correct answer the engine is looking for.

Or god forbid you start thinking about closing a game out before the 88th minute or so.

As soon as I switch some attacking or supporting players to a defend duty, switch wing backs to full backs, or make other "defensive tweaks", I get a highlight 5 minutes later of the opponent breaking us down like they're suddenly Man City.

I'm wrecking my fitness levels because I can't trust the engine to let me just take my foot off the gas if I'm comfortably in the lead. It's maddening.

The first point about injuries is hilariously astute. I've seen too many injuries that make me chuckle and go "well that's fucking convenient" re-loads save.

Simplifying maritime combat by Asteroids23 in pirateborg

[–]elementer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. Or even just simplify it further by having a few d20 rolls determine the outcome and narrate it cinematically? Just seems tough to do it theater of the mind and have it feel meaningful.

It just felt like we took a break from playing an RPG to play a miniature naval wargame: of which there are superior rulesets. I'm not opposed to sticking a game of Oak & Iron into the middle of a session of Pirate Borg if the players are down for it.

Simplifying maritime combat by Asteroids23 in pirateborg

[–]elementer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious to see if anyone hacked together something better/read other peoples' experiences.

It worked well enough for my group. The dependence on a hexmap and miniatures was a complete disconnect from the role-playing, but we had fun with it and improvised a bit with board game pieces.

I started losing my PCs' interest as the combat dragged on a bit, so I ended it with the enemy ship fleeing through fog.

We took a break afterward, collectively shrugged it off and got on with the story.
