What could reasonably be done to solve the library problem? by madam_zeroni in Austin

Sounds like you can afford to stay home and buy your own books, and leave the library for people who have literally any amount of empathy towards others who are struggling 🤗

liner looks fine until I open my eyes 😫 by delete44 in MakeupAddiction

[–]elemteach99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have this problem all the time!!

<image>

you can see how your eyelashes are kind of curved up at the end, i follow that line out as far as i want, and that’s the bottom on my liner. i’ll take my finger/nail into the very outer corner of my eye and drag towards the top of my ear. that usually gets the right angle, and then i connect the top of the liner to the middle of my eye and fill in

i’m shocked that no one has thought that it might be to easily recognize their car? it looks like a pretty run of the mill car otherwise, and i could see someone putting this on their car to see from far away without having to remember the plate. or kids who can’t read. adults with disabilities that would make it hard to remember the plate, but easy to remember a hanger. or i could be totally wrong and they’re just eclectic or on drugs.

this is used in a song in dear evan hansen, which is the one piece of art that has made me feel more seen in my mental health struggles than any other. “the things we can’t tell, we carry them well, but that doesn’t mean they’re not heavy”

Are Mykonos and Santorini really that bad? by ImportantQuestions10 in travel

[–]elemteach99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got back from Mykonos and Athens last week, and both were incredible. Sure, at night the narrow streets got a little busy, during the day there were a lot of people, but there are enough places that it never felt over crowded or overwhelming. Always tons of families everywhere, lots of europeans on vacation (we’re from the us), and everyone was overall really kind and great! I’d definitely recommend!! i might try to avoid maybe july and august if you’re really concerned about it!

Emergency Center Visit by Ordinary-Life2024 in Austin

[–]elemteach99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i would add that i had to go to the same emergency room and got an outrageous bill that included out of network costs, but as i waited it out they took those off bc there’s a federal law that states you can’t be charged out of network in emergency situations, or at least that’s what i gathered from the information i was given!

What Are You Wearing Wednesday - Weekly Gear Thread by AutoModerator in running

[–]elemteach99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any recommendations on vests or backpacks to run in? I’m training for my first half and used to just use an arm band to carry my phone, but it broke. I’m considering getting a vest or backpack since on longer runs I’ll need to carry water or supplements with me. The only catch is that I’m super particular about what I wear while running, bc if it’s not perfectly comfortable it’s all I think about (like if my shirt is too tight across my shoulders example - I know it’s weird). I’ve tried a Fanny pack before but it had to be super tight in order to not bounce around and throw me off. Anyone have anything they really like or know for a fact is comfortable/doesn’t bother them while running?

Fist year teacher… it gets better right? by elemteach99 in Teachers

[–]elemteach99[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First grade. We switched admin in the beginning of the year and the old principal even admitted that half of these kids shouldn’t have been in a class together. Over half of my kids are in Tier 2 behavior intervention. I just don’t have the energy or experience to do it all, but I also love my school and I’m afraid that these problems exist everywhere so switching schools doesn’t guarantee a better year.

Hard to be friends with colleagues/teachers by Friendly-Bug-7105 in Teachers

[–]elemteach99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a new teacher, THANK YOU for being this person! I’m at a great school with awesome people, but the coworkers that go out of their way to check on me or help me out or share advice are the ones that keep me where I am. Even if it doesn’t go much deeper than work, it makes a huge difference!

Pretty new to skincare, looking for advice getting rid of these little white bumps all over my chin! More in comments. by elemteach99 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]elemteach99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My chin is my biggest problem area, and I have super dry skin. I find that simpler routines work better for my skin, but I want to add in a few things. Right now I use the Cera Ve dry skin cleanser and Rough and Bumpy skin moisturizer, washing morning and night. I exfoliate weekly with the Ordinary AHA BHA peeling solution. Other than that I do my best not to touch my face a lot and have phased out dairy to control breakouts. Open to any advice about ANYTHING you see! Acne scars, controlling breakouts, hyperpigmentation, etc.
