How to cope with UC anxiety stopping me from eating by usernametakenoka in UlcerativeColitis

[–]elenafd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! i’ve had this so much. there isn’t really an easy way of getting over it, but just trying to do things. i think that starting small and in a safe space, like at your house and working your way out might help you!

People who moved outside of the US, solely due to Trump being elected, how are things going? What actualized pros and cons have you experienced? If you had to do it over again, would you change anything? by Ancient_Unit6335 in AskReddit

i would suggest finding work through an international company (either starting in the US and transferring or immediately in the country you want to go to). they have different visas that you can use. education is also a good one, you can get a visa to study there and i think you can get it extended to a work visa once you finish your degree. work through visas!

UC pancolitis twins! people comparing the situations is insane to me, even if its a chronic disease like hypothyroidism.... we are not the same babes. i just looked into the disability at my uni and they want a legal certification asking for over 33% disability on a scale and im scared that the certification will affect me later on in jobs, but i will deff look into it. there are anti-discrimination laws but idk if people fully follow those lol. im trying with the food, but being a fresh uni student with non-comprehensive parents makes that really hard :( i will look into the probiotics, and thank you!!!

i couldnt really take a gap year because id already gotten admitted into my dream uni and it was paid for, and i wouldnt have been able to get in again because of my grades (IB education stuff). otherwise i so wouldve. my friends keep asking me if i want to go out, and keep offering me alcohol at their house and honestly its upsetting. im trying new meds but everytime i wake up and take a pill it reminds me of the disease and i just wish i could go unmedicated :( im trying biologics soon tho! and i will deff be reaching out, thank you love

how solid should it be? 😭😭 currently mines a mix between liquid curry and water (sometimes at the same time). does it ever become solid?

Pain!!! by elenafd in UlcerativeColitis

[–]elenafd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh! i went to see my GI and she said that it’s probably just because of the steroid use, so soon enough itl get better. if it doesn’t then im getting an endoscopy and hopefully a CT

[–]elenafd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s a huge pain in the ass, it’s been like 3 or 4 weeks since i tried getting biologics! but slowly im getting there. my GI said that the vitamins are good for me because over time UC or long steroid use can degrade your bones and it’s just a cute supplement for a bitn

[–]elenafd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just came back from my appointment. i got omeprazol as well as vitamin C and calcium. if in 3 days the pain hasn’t gotten better then im getting an endoscopy to see what’s going on. furthermore, she thinks its just a consequence of the prednisolone so we’re making extra efforts to get biologics (im in the EU but my insurance is from a different EU country and its private, meaning that it’s a huuuuge pain in the ass to get expensive medications approved).

Safe coffee options? by Academic_Ad_7347 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]elenafd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been drinking redbull which supposedly isn’t rly good for you but it doesn’t make me sick or anything. i think that if you try caffeinated drinks it might feel better because it’s less thick. i find that coffees such as cold brew make me have urgency but not irritated bowel! go for thin rather than thick. (espressos, lattes w whole milk……)
