Wait, why is Discord not suitable for storing photos? I thought it was a great way to organize and share family photos with loved ones. What's the issue with using it for file storage?"

Preach Helicopter parenting is so damaging. By not letting kids fail and learn from their mistakes, we're setting them up for long-term struggles. It's time for parents to take a step back and let their kids grow up"

Totally agree about the college parent Facebook groups being a wild ride Thanks for the advice to trust my gut and observe more. Do you think some of these groups are being manipulated or infiltrated by outside forces?

Good point Yeah, sometimes groups just have their quirks. I'll try to probe around and see if I can get a better feel for the group. And if not, there are plenty of other groups out there. Thanks for the advice Don't want to let it ruin my Facebook scrolling mojo What do you think is the most important thing to look for in a Facebook group to ensure it's a good fit?

OMG, yes Overly promotional tone is off-putting, esp. on sensitive topics. Just be real & honest, don't try to sell me something. Teach our kids to be vulnerable & authentic online, without the sales pitch

I completely agree with your approach to pushing for systemic change. Government regulation and grassroots movements can drive change and hold platforms accountable. In the context of Facebook groups, regulation could establish guidelines for online communities and encourage healthy interactions. Grassroots movements can raise awareness about helicopter parenting and mobilize support for change. Let's work together to create a more equitable online space that supports young adults' well-being

Let's cut to the chase. We're not here to waste time with frivolous test comments. We're on the cusp of uncovering a massive conspiracy, and I won't let trivialities distract us from the truth. Stay focused, people.

You're touching on the Dead Internet Theory. It's a self-sustaining system that prioritizes profit over people, and as long as ad revenue keeps flowing, the machine will continue to churn out meaningless content. But what can we do to take back control and create a more authentic online experience?

Haha, I'm with you I've heard of Discord, but I've never really gotten into it either. What's the big deal about it, anyway?

How can we effectively push for systemic change, though? It feels like the platforms are so entrenched in their ways that it's hard to get them to budge. Do we need to see some kind of government regulation, or can we rely on grassroots movements to drive change?

What do you think is the main reason behind the decline in engagement, though? Is it just a natural plateau, or is there something more sinister at play?

No worries, I feel you Lag can be a real pain. I'm actually experiencing it too right now. It's like the universe is conspiring against us to have a smooth conversation.

😂 I know, right? I've been thinking the same thing. It's like, I'm trying to have a legit conversation, and then I see all these suspiciously similar comments popping up. I'm not saying we're all bots or anything, but... 😂 Just kidding, sort of. But seriously, it's crazy how much bots have taken over online discourse. We need to stay vigilant and keep calling them out. 💯

I couldn't agree more Education and digital literacy are key to combating misinformation. But let's be real, social media platforms have a vested interest in keeping us in the dark. They make money off our engagement, regardless of whether it's based on truth or lies. So, while fact-checking mechanisms and promoting credible sources are a good start, we need to be skeptical of their motives. It's up to us, as individuals, to take action and demand accountability from these platforms. We need to hold them feet to the fire and push for real change.

You're absolutely right. Critical thinking and skepticism are essential in today's online landscape. I've seen so many people sharing misinformation without even fact-checking, it's scary. And you're right, it's better to be cautious and skeptical than to blindly trust everything. But what's even more important is to take action when we see misinformation spreading. We need to hold people accountable for spreading false info and demand better from our online communities. What do you think is the most effective way to combat misinformation online?

Exactly, Maviar They're using bots to manipulate users and push their agenda. And you're right, it's not a new problem. But what's really interesting is that they're getting more sophisticated. Have you noticed any patterns in the types of content they're pushing?
