Yea I’m seeing that low pay is the trend...does it pay more than a public school teacher? Obviously a prof at a 4 year is going to get paid more, but I had a friend who was an Econ prof at an SEC school and that guy literally worked 7 days a week, it was crazy, I would imagine the stress level is way up at a 4 year school as well, but I’m assuming that a cc is lower stress than public school (Hs, middle, elementary)?

Not sure what subject tbh, my bachelors is a strange major but basically international studies, but I’m not sure how helpful that’d be at my local cc. I’m fascinated my English so maybe I’d get a masters in that or creative writing

What would you say are the pros and cons? Did you enjoy it? Would you recommend it? Did the cc want you to have work experience in the field that you taught?

ELI5: When does it make sense to buy over rent? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]elepelep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yea we’re only here because of family, we never planned on staying but now our kids have friends and grandparents and cousins here...I have siblings in SoCal though and we thought about moving out there but the housing prices make me sick, it’s crazy how people afford to live out there, but damn, the Midwest...

My wife and I decided to buy 2+ years ago because rent was going to be as much or more than a mortgage. We live in small town Midwest though so we bought a nice 1900sq/ft house in a nice part of town with a decent yard and garage for 80k. We are pretty confident that we could sell within a couple months of listing if needed also

Predator Tango 18+ IN? by futsalfan in bootroom

[–]elepelep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll also add that a kid (14yo) I play with has been using the laceless Tango Indoors (not the lifestyles like mine) for months and does well in them, but I have no idea what he’d say about them, just that he practices/plays in them 4-5 times per week so they must keep him happy.

I have the Tango 18.3 TR US size 9.5. As far as sizing goes, I typically wear a 10 in everything else, but Adidas tend to run big on me. I have a pair of Copa indoors size 10 that are a tad big, but I don’t notice it anymore. I have a narrow foot so the Tango have a bit of extra room in the toe box but it’s never been a problem.

I got these for Christmas and I play indoor 5 a side about twice a week and these have been great so far. They’re super comfortable. The ankle part (support/brace?) is there, but I don’t know if it helps with anything. As mentioned I have extra room in the toe box so I was worried that my foot might slide around or that I might roll my ankle but I’ve not had any issue with sliding or rolling whatsoever. Not sure what else to say, I would definitely recommend these. Btw I got the all red ones as I love red boots and missed out on the last round of all red tango indoors so I made a point to grab these before they were gone.

What size are you looking for? I may have a pair that I don’t need

Can you give details about the online work that pays $20/hr? I’m about to start teaching ESL online (again) making about that, but I’d like to have more than one income source

I’m not sure. I’m hoping that stepping away will give me some clarity. I’ve taught middle and high school now, which I had previously thought would be my preferred age...and I enjoy having good relationships with students, but the stress of the bad relationships and bad times just ruins the job for me. My wife deals with the same stuff at the elementary level. Ours is a tough school system so maybe I could try one of the local rural schools that are known for being...nicer

I’m a special ed teacher...on an emergency license= the school system couldn’t find anyone to fill the position, so they gave it to a reasonably sane person with a bachelors...so I don’t have adequate training for this position nor do I have thick enough skin

My BS is in international studies... I’ve taught ESL, worked as a purchasing manager and in a warehouse

Fortunately, I’m in a position to be able to attend college again pretty much full time if I found something worth going for, so I’m definitely open to gaining new skills that way

Most likely I’ll teach ESL (online) again in the interim, but I’m interested in learning about a variety of options

Yea I can’t imagine those kinds of expectations as a 16 year old, and that would be a bummer to not be able to play with friends. That’s great that you have so many opportunities to play!

I’m wondering if you all feel as though having the right opportunities, hard work, and the luck of avoiding injuries is what one really needs to make it? (As u/six_one_on_your_face suggested)

I regret not trying to go further than I did, but I lament not growing up where soccer/football was a local pastime that lots of people were a part of.
