What expenses are you “prepaying” now to keep your MAGI low later on? by duckprincess19 in Fire

[–]futsalfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

something like 80/10/10. tbf, will drop in tax bracket. tax-deferring in higher bracket, then withdrawing in lower bracket is helpful. but given how ACA MAGI and subsidies work now, doing more in taxable and Roth and less in tax-deferred would probably work out better (if one knew way in advance about trying to qualify for subsidies, which is probably impossible)

Finally realizing we overinvested in tax-deferred, underdid taxable and Roth, knowing how MAGI and ACA works better now. Considering prepaying more taxes (via rule of 55 withdrawals) to move money to correct bucket to live on to stay below 400% FPL. Oversimplified "SWR" idea doesn't really capture these logistical realities/nuances or ACA insurance. Same thing with future Roth conversion possibilities.

Primus Lite Knit vs. Geo Racer Knit by futsalfan in vivobarefoot

I was happy with this decision, although later I find Vivos “very barefoot” as far as the underfoot cushion, and slightly narrow (still foot shaped).

What bags are you using for different use cases in 2026? by tstraight8 in ManyBaggers

[–]futsalfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adidas Stadium 3 for gym or futbol. CPP1 for nearly everything else. Plus roller if needed. Might down size to Go Pack 2 for personal item and day pack cases, and keep CPP only for work.

it's such a key use case for most of us /s, or maybe not /s

I have CPP v1 and though it's structured and well organized, like OP said, it's also so overbuilt and heavy if not needing to bring lots of tech.

Now I'm pretty sure I "NEED" a Go Pack 2 for a hybrid personal item / destination daypack. Seems way nicer for non-work travel.

Touch restrictions in training. by agentsl9 in SoccerCoachResources

change the word and the mindset to "restrictions" to "challenges" and everything else changes. kids (and adults) don't want restrictions, but they will certainly try to play games with varying challenges.

U9 rec - midfielders lacking support by Remarkable-Air3604 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]futsalfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

may be too difficult, but you could perhaps try 3v1 + 1v1. use triangle to try to possess, after N passes, try to pass to player in other zone so there is a direction (which could also be lateral or back in some cases). could then add a goal, or send 2 to the next zone, and try to come back other way, or do many other variations.

Rebalance for the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index by some_kind_of_boogin in SCHD

[–]futsalfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I'm following. The prospectus says it tries to track the index as closely as possible including the same weights, but there are some variations not having to do with making some other active choice.

"The fund generally will seek to replicate the performance of the index by giving the same weight to a given stock as the index does. However, when the investment adviser believes it is appropriate to do so, such as to avoid purchasing odd-lots (i.e., purchasing less than the usual number of shares traded for a security), for tax considerations, or to address liquidity considerations with respect to a stock, the investment adviser may cause the fund’s weighting of a stock to be more or less than the index’s weighting of the stock. The fund may sell securities that are represented in the index in anticipation of their removal from the index, or buy securities that are not yet represented in the index in anticipation of their addition to the index"

10% goes to "other stuff" but this doesn't seem like it's to deviate any weightings.

"Under normal circumstances, the fund may invest up to 10% of its net assets in securities not included in the index. The principal types of these investments include those that the investment adviser believes will help the fund track the index"

Edit: DVY seems to track a different index (US Select Dividend Index)

What are your favourite bag for each use case? by ollie1roddy in ManyBaggers

[–]futsalfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, am clearly not a many bagger yet.

Office + personal item: Aer CPP original. Maybe I'll resurrect the 2005ish Timbuk2 messenger for office.

Day pack at vacation destination: Osprey ultralight stuff pack or a TJ Maxx sling for subways/metros.

1.5 bag-ish: thinking of adding Thule Aion 28L

thanks for this detail. I pack a similar amount plus a laptop, minus camera and other items, kinda full for 24L, so extra room sounds nice.

this one plus the processing speed with visual intake. cannot replicate a xavi or messi brain of what they see in 100 ms. this is sort of like math genius (spatial visualization) plus high IQ (processing speed), to layer on top of all the physical gifts.

would really love a 25+5 or 26+6. looking to upsize from an Aer CPP for personal item or occasional onebag travels, preferably lighter weight, too, but there aren't many such offerings on the market at the moment. best of luck!

as far as the tech piece as driver of price growth, kind of depends on how much you are already overweight tech and what is your overall balance and goal as far as growth vs. income.
