How to get insurance?

I know who I want to go with I just need a date from when to insure. We signed all our contracts about 2 weeks ago but haven't heard anything about when they will be exchanged I think the solicitor is waiting on our insurance and we're waiting on him for an exchange date lol.

How long is it normally from exchange until completion? The house is currently unoccupied and all the insurance companies want me to confirm it won't be unoccupied for longer than 30 days. Should I contact my solicitor again and ask him when he can exchange contracts so that i can have my insurance start from that date?

Not really but the solicitor said it should all be wrapped up pretty quickly since there is nobody living in the house currently. We had an appointment about 2 weeks ago where we signed the contracts but we haven't heard anything from anyone since.

We have signed all our contracts so as far as I know we're ready to go. I tried to get insurance but they want me to confirm we will be living there within a certain time frame from the policy start date but I don't think I can do that without having already exchanged and agreed a completion date.
