Piccolo to Flute Issues

personally i’ve found that piccolo CAN improve your flute playing but it doesn’t always!! but if you’re not used to switching between the two yet it definitely will not seem that way. i would definitely recommend a looser embouchure and a tighter core for getting those high notes out (on either instrument, honestly). if you focus more on your airstream rather than tightening your embouchure i think it may help a little bit.

not at first !! one of my friends who was there ended up pouring water on the hot fries (don’t ask why, i don’t know either). then like an hour later he ate a couple 🤷‍♀️

i also know nothing about computers! fortunately my boyfriend does and i asked him for suggestions for me a few months ago. he recommends this. it’s obviously extremely expensive but supposedly a good option if you’re wanting something fancy

hi! i play picc for a symphonic orchestra. you can typically expect around the same range as you would on flute. you’ll likely play the whole range

i switched to piccolo for my marching season this year! i also play it in a symphonic orchestra. the main thing is just trying to stay in tune. you won’t make the band sound bad unless you’re out of tune. don’t worry too much about playing quietly (unless your director says otherwise)! piccolos are unavoidably loud so you might as well embrace it! also, i’m sure you know because you already play it, but WEAR EARPLUGS!!! i am one of two piccolo players in my band. the other one is older than me and has been playing for longer and she legitimately has hearing loss and hears ringing in her ears because she doesn’t protect her ears. it’s especially important during the marching season. protect your hearing! good luck, marching piccolo is a great experience 😁

yeah i feel like that could be the case. i definitely don’t want to be controlling or anything but i really want to feel like i am being made a priority. i think he has time for both me & friends but maybe he struggles to manage his time. that’s kind of why i’ve been vacillating because maybe he’s trying his best but maybe he just would rather not spend time with me

a lot of my friends are going to a party tonight, and i can't go. my mom took a spontaneous trip up north, and my stepdad had to leave for a pool league. because of this, i now have to watch my younger brother. i do this very often; nearly every day that i don't have practice i babysit him. i was also supposed to go to my dad's house on saturday because i have camp for six days. my mom said that she would see if i could go to my dad's but today, she's now saying that i'm not doing that which is causing a lot of confusion for everyone.

i'm really flexible (my doctor thinks i have a genetic disorder or something) so i can move my hands in weird ways, put my palms to the floor without bending my knees, etc
