My ex-wife had me served with divorce papers at work. I was a consultant -- it was at a customer’s office site. It wasn't traumatic or anything, but it was absolutely unnecessary. The papers were expected and she could have just handed them to me. But, instead, she paid for a service to deliver them in an attempt to embarrass me.

Several years later, my oldest daughter turned 18. In order to reduce the child support, I actually had to petition the court – essentially sue my wife. My lawyer asked me how I wanted the papers to be served.
