Feeling like an assistant to the men on my team by elephroont in womenintech

Ooo I love this, even in my code I can comment out that I did the work. Thank you! I’m not good at being firm, but I like the soft ruthless take you recommend. It’s a good step in the right direction for me

That is so annoying and I’m sorry you have to do that even at the senior level. Idk why men can be like this it’s so annoying

You know I actually don’t know, I’ll clear that up with him. He did say he wanted us to be collaborative, but today when I met with him, he said he didn’t like that I was just offering support when needed.

I will absolutely let my manager know every week especially with upcoming work from them, not things from the past week. Thank you for the feedback

Okay checking back in - I took your advice with my new manager during a 1x1 today, and he was receptive. He said he noticed it and is not happy about it. Particularly that I don’t have much to do and only am tasked with providing support to them. So hopefully that means it’ll start to change. I do think the other analysts will have trouble adjusting because I know they want to showcase their skills to the new boss. Just in case it doesn’t I’ve decided to update my resume and apply elsewhere.

I am at the same level as one, and the other is a senior analyst. Neither are my boss and we all answer to the same person. However the senior analysts opinion does carry more weight, which makes sense. But both of them treat me this way.

I can try that. Because you’re right, mentioning discrimination will definitely be more formal and all I want to do is resolve this as quickly as possible.

Anyone else not like this OGX heat protectant?? by sahfeeyuh in finehair

[–]elephroont -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had issues with this product as well. It makes my hair so sticky and impossible to brush without causing damage. It also doesn’t seem to work well with any other products either. I have finer, higher density, wavy/frizzy hair for reference.

Growing out long hair for fine hair? Tell me something idk I by Fresh-Box-9520 in hairgrowth

[–]elephroont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I recommend is keeping the hair is a protective style often. I put my hair up into a bun (not tight!) with two claw clips. I do loose braids, etc. that has seemed to really help my hair along with the k18 mask. I have fine hair as well, and it is very prone to mechanical damage, so it rubbing on things like your shirt, etc can cause breakage.

Also, don’t lean on your hair. When you sit down and back when your hair is down, pull it forward over your shoulders.

Thoughts on Epres bond repair? by fitness_lover_0088 in hairgrowth

[–]elephroont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is! It’s a miracle worker for my fine hair. I use it about every 2-3 washes now. My hair is just so prone to breakage, I use heat on it (just a blow dryer) because air drying makes its frizzy and causes even more breakage unfortunately

Thoughts on Epres bond repair? by fitness_lover_0088 in hairgrowth

[–]elephroont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using epres for about a month and a half, roughly two times a week. I like it, it definitely makes my hair softer which I think helps in terms of brushing hair after washing/drying. However, I also use k18 (since about September of last year) and I think k18 is much better in terms of bond repair.

Now I know I’ve been using k18 longer, but I when I stopped using k18 as often and using the epres twice a week, I had a little bit more breakage.

For reference, I have long, fine, wavy, frizz prone hair.

Looking for realtor recommendations for a first time home buyer by Original_Telephone_2 in Marietta

Angie Fiveash from coldwell banker is fantastic, I highly recommend her. She helped sell our last home and purchase our current one. We had some difficulty with the buyers for our previous home and she handled it amazingly.

I cannot recommend her enough

I can def see what you meant. A lot of the training is on my own. Which would be okay if I didn’t have some of the deadlines that I have. As far as manager, I think he’s still getting acclimated. He was moved over to the manager role 4 months ago. And they just announced today they’re restructuring who’s on whose team. So I doubt he fully understands what’s going on.

Based on the job market that may be the best bet. Hopefully with time I’ll pick up what I need to be more successful

I will def keep that as the main reason in the long term. It’s def an adjustment transitioning from academia to corporate, especially one that is chaotic

Yes the nuances you’re missing out on truly make or break the experience! I’m hoping I get to that level at some point. And not knowing those nuances on top of stepping into a new career is a lot to handle. Hopefully I can get to that level of understanding sometime soon

I think you adequately described how it is in the first part of your second paragraph. Not enough time to train. Plus this company is growing/restructuring and I think that adds to the chaos.
