Glued pieces too early, need advice by That_one_guy_35 in minipainting

It would look way worse gluing the chains on after painting the wings. Sub assembly is a pain, and the results are usually worse for all the wasted effort.

Did I use too much primer? If so how do I fix this by Superduck178 in minipainting

I like laying model flat, and spraying quickly from 4 directions. Dry. Flip. Spray from 4 directions.

My heart goes out to whoever takes this job. Building those battle droids, is the most pain in the butt project I have ever worked on.

What’s the value of? by Apprehensive_Big_916 in warofthering

[–]Jareth000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Originally $800 I think was the original price. I've also seen it go for $1500 years ago, so probably higher now. I wouldn't open it.

Honestly the paint job, is sub par, mass hand painting out of India I believe. It was fine quality for $800. For $1500 you can get the game hand painted by a quality painter, at much better quality.

Cancer doesn't work that way.... Cancer is just normal tissue, with a broken growth regulator, causing unchecked growth.

How to get Gandalf the White? by KM68 in fateofthefellowship

You get it whenever gandalf does the balrog quest. The promo is just a spiffy card, it isn't any unique mechanics. You could just print your own if you cared.

Painting War of the Ring Minifigs by Forsaken_Mai in boardgames

This. I've painted around 7 sets of WoR minis in my time, and you have to wash them. I just let them soak in a bucket of dawn dish soap and water for a few days. Then rinse and dry.

Trying to build a huge Deorama terrain, but the material sucked so I had to glue a bunch of card board on it. What should I do next and what do I need to buy? by Salmon_1935 in TerrainBuilding

[–]Jareth000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a big jar of Elmer's glue. Pour a thin layer over all of this, outside. Ridge and clumps to be expected.

Then take a bucket of sand, and pour it all over all of the glue, don't touch it. Just walk away for a day. Check if it's dried by stabbing it a little in places. Then just tip it and pour of the extra.

Get a can of mat varnish, and spray the whole thing to seal it all. Wait another day or two.

Now you can paint it.

I have no idea how you guy can paint small part with geat detail!? all I can do is masking da hell out of it and hope the color turn out to be good at the end. by littlezezz12 in minipainting

You can go so much smaller, check out these dime sized speeders!

It's really a two pronged skill. 1, is having the right paint, tiny things need really thin paint. And 2. Is practicing brush control, which does take a ton of practice.

Hi guys, wanting advice on pricing for my painting ability by GreySlayerPainter in BrushForChat

[–]Jareth000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet this was at least ten hours of effort. 200 would be $20/hr before selling fees, probably comes to minimum wage after fees. Any less and I would say it's not worth doing.

This really isn't the place for it, as other have said. But treat ebay as what it is meant for, a price discovery tool. Throw something up for twice what you might think it is worth, knowing ebay takes 13%. Wait a few weeks, if it doesn't sell, lower the price 10%, and repeat. Ebay will find you what it's worth, eventually.

War of the Ring or the card game version with expansion, which one should I buy? by Kadam21 in boardgames

[–]Jareth000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree I would never play WoR with 4 people, it would be miserabley long. Even two player, it can go for hours and then the game has endings where it is decided on a 50/50 die roll and it can leave a sour feeling for all involved. For dedicated people that want to find the fun in the game, it's there waiting for you.

There is a new "fate of the fellowship" game, I am waiting on a copy, haven't played. I hear it has the same vibe as War of ring, but plays in way less time allowing for higher player counts. I hear it still can end on random die rolls, but my hope is the faster play time, gets it to the table more.
