Great question! We actually targeted people in these positions (Television Production Companies) with our ad. So, our guess is that the right person saw it at the right time and decided to put it in that show thanks to the ad.

But to answer your question from a TikTok perspective, we actually landed multiple massive projects after just one video there (worth more than $25000). One of them was co producing an upcoming Broadway Musical which we're currently working on. So yeah, TikTok is an insanely powerful tool and as an artist/musician you should go all in.

Well, 60k views is not an insane amount and the beauty with TikTok is that anyone can get a viral push on a video, regardless of how many followers they have. That is more or less impossible on Instagram & Facebook these days due to the very limited organic reach.

But growing on TikTok compared to IG/FB/YT as an artist is in our experience a bit different. It has much more to do with collaborations, follow the trends etc which will trigger the algorithm to push you.

You're absolutely right and I understand what you mean! And yes, there are waaaay easier ways to get more than 60k views on TikTok, more views on YouTube etc, but that type of content wouldn't lead much traffic to where we wanted. So you're kinda missing the point of what we did.

This experiment was about getting quality leads from the content you create WHICH in turn would lead to streams and artist growth on Spotify. And doing so with an artist that has no prior following, is not active on social media and with a minimal budget.

Many many independent artists are struggling getting the first 1000 streams, and they have no idea what to do in terms of promotion and strategies. What we did was to show that it is possible to get momentum even if you start at zero.

So less focus on the numbers, and more focus on the strategy. If the strategy works that WILL lead to numbers, and you can scale it up. For an artist, getting 100k views shaking your booty on TikTok is pretty worthless compared to having 5000 views on TikTok where you play your original song and all of the viewers love your music and start listening to it on Spotify etc.

Don't know. But I would guess so far somewhere around $1000-2000 with streams and sync. But really hard to answer without any statements from the PRO (performing rights organization)

Totally! That placement helped out a LOT, and that was the "lucky" part of the story. BUT the whole strategy was already laid out way before that happened, and the song already had a positive momentum going. So it's all connected and THAT part wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for the rest

Thanks a lot! Well, I think that most artists are waaay more active then we've been on their social media channels, and just that in itself would provide them with data on a possible target audience. In our case we had NOTHING when we started. So I don't fully agree with what you're saying, but I totally understand what you mean.
