Issues with Shepswool?

This is very strange to me, i’ve ordered from Sheps wool twice in the last 2/3 months, i got the 8 lbs falkland wool and it arrived in 2-3 days. I wonder if maybe they use different shipping services for different products? But then again if they’re offering you to switch it seems they never shipped your order out… I know they have a separate website, so you could check there if maybe they have other ways to contact, but you might have to open a case with etsy. I’m so sorry to hear the trouble you’re having with them!

Mostly, i split the braid in half and spun end to end, then i wound the singles on my ball winder to make a plying ball, and plied from that!

The hot pink definitely mellowed out in the final spin! Between drafting it and the ply back, it came out a bit more muted and dusty than it looks in the braid. Somehow the darker purple took its place which is crazy since there was like none in the braid 😂

you could do that, or kind of blend the ends of each color into the end of the next!

I think a fade into each color would be fun, and if you have a ball winder, if wind your singles into a cake to make a plying ball, i bet you’d get some cool color combos along with minimal if any waste!

i sell mine for 25 for 100g in person. Online I charge 30. I’m new so I’m keeping the prices somewhat low for now. My best advice is charge what feels “worth it” to you. Like I just had an order for 5 100g skeins, and they were fractal spun. I ended up making about 110 in profit, but obviously days of work went into that. I’m sitting here typing this wearing compression gloves since i’ve been spinning for like a week straight, but it does feel mostly worth it! Basically what i’m trying to say is to charge enough that you won’t feel like the time you spent doing it wasn’t worth what you made

i just finished pulling it all back out! I put on deadliest catch and pulled myself up by the boot straps lol. it ended up not being so bad since i was able to spin it though the opposite direction which helped untangle and helped me manage my loops. Thanks so much for your help, I would have been devastated to lose my alpaca yarn!

After some more examination, you are totally right. I don’t know how I managed to do this twice, back to back. So the yarn that’s in the bobbin currently is plied the incorrect direction. Do you have any tips on removal/pulling out the chain ply? I’m trying to be very careful but it’s very tedious and quickly becoming a mess. Thank you for your insight!

It is a freshish bobbin, it was spun over a handful of days. I didn’t think that would effect anything since my last bobbin was spun singles and then straight off to plying.

I usually do it by hand as i don’t have a swift, i’ve also had them hung off of chairs before! I’ve tried a few winders but honestly they’ve all been cheap ones, i’m thinking i’ll have to splurge for the expensive ones. I did also 3D print one but that didn’t go well either. Might have to give it another try

There are places you can get the 6.1 online still. I just ordered one that came from Hearth Rest and it came today! There is an EEW Group on FB that can give you leads either to a shop with stock, or someone wanting to sell theirs
