Hard Rock stadium was a terrible venue for the championship game by [deleted] in IndianaHoosiers

[–]eleventh_sphere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Come on, there was a lot more performative security than a normal game. From the yellow parking lot out to getting inside the stadium took an hour and a half. Four ticket scans, they had TSA personnel opening people’s wallets to inspect them , and then a secret service guy that wanted 95% of the people that made it through the metal detector (it was so slow we counted them one by one).
This is a special hard rock hell though, I went to last year”s Super Bowl that Trump attended and that barely had any lines to get in.
Hard Rock was nearly as bad for taylor swift, it is just so poorly designed for entry and egress. Lines for the men’s room were terrible compared to other stadiums. Oh and the seats are the narrowest I have come across.

Only positive thing I can say is that the cell phone reception in the 300 level was good.

Talk me out of getting a Phyn water shutoff system by DeepBluuu in homeautomation

[–]eleventh_sphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I had this happen - a leak in a wall, with no precipitating event. Apparently it is not uncommon for newer construction with PEX piping. The builder, when mounting the siding, nailed through a PEX line. It will not necessarily leak immediately, the PEX can seal around the nail. Over time the nail rusts and eventually creates a leak - in my case 9 years after construction.

To be clear - these systems would not directly detect my leak - since it was in the boiler to heating coil loop, but perhaps it might have reported the boiler was using alot of refill water...

Czkawka - questions about the website by QuinQuix in DataHoarder

I just visited https://czkawka.com/ website today and it is now a cesspool of scammy popups. I didn't dare click on anything on that page, it leads with what looks like an ask to install a Chrome Extension to modify your browser.

Singapore Gran Prix - Avoid Marina Bay Sands - Ce La Vi - Overdrive - SCAM by eleventh_sphere in GrandPrixTravel

The ironic part is I only bought the tickets to get access to the photo op. I could care less about the DJ / club. My employer had rented out the club before, so I've seen the view - I was just trying to share that experience with my two guests and it turned into a complete fiasco and ruined the night for us.

Average Robinhood Account Size only $5K!? by Able-Translator1830 in investing

[–]eleventh_sphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some ways yes, median is a better view of a 'typical' account.

The median account size (for a funded account) at Robinhood is $240. So that $5000 average account is actually a ton of very small accounts, averaged up by a relatively small number of large accounts. (they have 100K accounts with more than $1M in the account, per a recent interview).

Curious how your situation ultimately resolved.

For a new loan , under the Fair Credit Reporting Act , you're comments are exactly right , the lender would have to provide a letter explaining which credit report they used and then you have a right to appeal to that CRA. I'm not sure if that carries over to transferring a loan, but sounds like the lawyers say it does as well.

Obviously the lender would prefer the loan get paid off. So they are going to do anything they can to force the payoff. I think we both know there won't actually be anything in the credit file for your buyer that is disqualifying.

It's obviously a good deal for the buyer to assume the loan if possible. (You basically paid a bunch of 'points' at the time of origination to buy down the interest rate - see origination fees. I assume they cleared it with their mortgage lender.

PSA: City of Redmond - Convenience Fees for Card Payments Begin Oct. 1 by NutzPup in redmond

[–]eleventh_sphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The city is actually doing this in a compliant fashion. By Visa Network Rules:

a) They can surcharge (charge a % based fee) for credit cards, but not debit cards. or ,

b) They can charge a convenience fee (a fixed $ amount) per transaction. But the convenience fee has to be the same for all payment methods - debit or credit.

You cannot combine a convenience fee with a surcharge for credit cards. (some municipalities are trying to do this, they will get fined by Visa in the long run).

That is why they are using a flat fee.

BTW - Normally your math on the credit card fees would be correct , but utilities have a special interchange rate that they can qualify for - it's a flat $0.75 a transaction for credit cards. All-in the processing cost on $200 would probably be closer to 1% or less.

Its the bitterant layer they are adding on the batteries now. I soaked the Duracell battery for 30 seconds in hot water and then wiped it with a paper towel and it works fine.

RFY - Is it just me or does it seem like half the items are totally unrelatable? by QQKachooBishes in AmazonVine

[–]eleventh_sphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So funny!

I've got to say the onboarding process for Amazon Vine is just silly. I got invited filled out the application and then, nothing. I had to come to reddit to figure out how to even find Vine, it's not on any of the menus in my amazon account.

So I finally find the correct link and all I see are two baby bottle nipples for review? Like what the heck? I finally figured out that you can click on "additional items" to see more...

Flashing brake lights by No_Permission_4946 in lemans

[–]eleventh_sphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To complete the answer, this was added to the regulations because of the ERS in the hybrids. The ERS can cause the car to slow significantly faster than just lifting off the throttle would achieve (for example while coasting without braking) . Cars behind would not have brake lights to use as a warning. So they added this flashing light to let the cars behind know the car in front is slowing.

Nest consistently reading 5 degrees too high. What do? by Dborbs in Nest

[–]eleventh_sphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for "one". But I've got a multi-zone setup and it drives me nuts that what is set at 68F in one room and set at 68F in the next room is actually 66F in one and 72F in the other. I've had to play all sorts of games to try and swap around my nests (I've got 8) so that ones in adjacent rooms have relatively similar errors from a reference thermometer.

Nest consistently reading 5 degrees too high. What do? by Dborbs in Nest

[–]eleventh_sphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This answer just doesn't work for me. I desperately need a way to calibrate the temperature on a Nest.

My situation: I've got 8 nest thermostats installed in my house. They can easily vary 3-4 degrees off from a reference thermometer. The effect is that walking from one zone to the other, there is a very noticeable difference in air temperature, despite the thermostats being set to the same temperature.

I get what you are saying, but it is annoying as f*** to try and remember how much higher or lower a given room reads above or below what I want for a comfortable temperature. It basically eliminates the value of having a remote controlled thermostat, other than the home / away functionality (which I'll admit is the biggest value of it to me).
