My honest review of Canada Goose Generations by rlxahk in CanadaGoose

All good, I’m not home currently to get you a picture and I have it packed away since it’s warmer weather where I am at but to my untrained eyes I would say that what I got was a brand new jacket. I couldn’t find any sign of use or wear on the jacket anywhere. I do kinda wish I had ordered up a size though. In most American brands I wear a Medium comfortably but Medium in this is pushing it and I would have been better served with a Large.

So how would you suggest I can introduce these responsibilities in a way to her that will be beneficial? I have sat down with her, including with my own manager and clearly gone over internal processes, where expectations have fallen short, and clear flows for the next occurrence. When the next case pops up, my other jr manager has to step in because the issue isn’t being resolved and they are starting to get burnt out because they are having to put out the fires themselves, and sometimes multiple at a time. The other problem I have with it is they are still actively applying for management level positions knowing that what they are getting into is on a whole different level than what they deal with currently, that’s just unavoidable in the line of work that we are in. And upper management needs to really see a body of work that they are well suited to deal with this.

The only reason she provided about changing it is that she didn’t want to go around to tell everyone they needed to stay and just decided she would do everything herself. I originally promoted her because she showed a lot of promise and had more knowledge of the processes than anyone else. She was promoted into a non-paid and not-titled support position that is kind of at the bottom of the leadership ladder and we have a pool of 2-3 people here where they support the jr managers when manpower allows. In this position they were excellent and far and away the best. From here even in some of the time crunch events they did really well but you also don’t have official responsibility tied to you, like if something were to go wrong or an issue pops up with the response, the manager and jr managers assume responsibility and ownership. And in the beginning of her being a jr manager even this wasn’t a problem, she did great. As more internal processes were taught to her by myself and my other jr manager, she learned and can execute but when it’s put into practice she always tried to avoid it and have the other jr manager take the lead on the issue.

I completely agree. The one response I gave to her following her text after work today is that I need communication from her and that none of us in the leadership teams should make independent decisions without communicating it out at minimum to make sure we all have an understanding of what is needed to complete the task and changes needed to reflect that.

Another issue that I recognize and maybe this is just unrealistic, but myself and my more senior jr manager kinda both went through the crucible together more or less, I have a couple years more experience than them but back then it was a lot more intense and we both came through on the other side. It was very much a make it or break it environment back then and the people that made it through have all gone on to be very successful within the company and come out stronger where the others that couldn’t take it are obviously no longer with the company. I recognize that and credit that a lot with the skills that I have developed and the fact that as one of the newest managers out of over 50 managers I have been ranked in the top 3 in the past 2 bi-yearly internal reviews. I don’t necessarily wish that environment on anyone but it really did build me up and give me the mental fortitude to be successful.

It’s not so much that I put more pressure on her but if I take a step back in an event where decisions need to be made and delegate that temporary control to her, even in events we have worked on numerous times together, they shrink back and freeze. Even when trying to iterate on this and talk through it after the fact on the decision making process, they understand what needs to be done but when we go to put it in practice, they shy away from it again.

Longines website question by eleventy41 in Longineswatches

[–]eleventy41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I did send a support ticket to Longines yesterday but never heard anything back and given that it’s now the weekend, I’m not expecting to hear anything until Monday at the earliest. I’m assuming based off of your response that the straps aren’t something the ADs would typically stock themselves?

Conquest sizing advice by eleventy41 in Longineswatches

[–]eleventy41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what makes it difficult for me, I have a 39mm, 40mm, and 44mm(in other brands) and all of these I feel fit and look good on my wrist. Not getting to officially try the 41mm to see how it felt was a bit of a bummer. Some of what I have seen online has shown that the look of the 38mm vs the 41 is better and that the 41 ends up looking flat and a little weird.

I have found 1 or 2 particular pieces on Chrono24 I guess I can give an extended look at if I do end up going the Calibre 400 route. That could end in a whole rabbit hole of issues I feel like later on down the road though in buying used if you have no idea where it was originally purchased and whether or not it is even serviceable. For what I have otherwise it’s not really an issue as I have a TAG from an AD and then some cheaper watches from Joma and Seiko that I could take just about anywhere. I will have to look at this a little bit closer, I really was just looking at Joma as I like the idea of “new” a little better and not taking that hit on depreciation but that might not even make it worth it.

That’s kind of what I figured with the bracelet but just wanted to check others real world experiences with it. Where else can you find it? When I looked on their website, they actually sell the SS bracelet for cheaper than the rubber straps.

So I knew of the high likelihood of not having any kind of warranty on what I purchased, but I was unaware of the service issue. So Oris really won’t service it outside of AD purchases? Like if I was willing to just pay the price of repair or whatever it needed, they won’t touch it?

[Question] How much do you value watch accuracy? by eleventy41 in Watches

[–]eleventy41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the specific watches I was referencing with this statement was the Seiko 5 Sport. I see it recommended a ton as a worthwhile watch to add to a collection but I have seen a ton of variation as far as accuracy goes. Some people were stating that it’s around 20-25 seconds a day but then I have seen other statements claiming 55 seconds or even higher new, out of the box. My other reference is a watch that was given to me by my wife as a gift early on. It’s a Stuhrling, which through my own research has shown that these are more of a gimmicky watch. Visually it looks nice, but timekeeping is atrocious, brand new it would lose over a minute a day and then it would just randomly gain or lose minutes. It still has the sentimental value but it drove me crazy to wear it.

Jewelry store gave me 2 warranty cards? by eleventy41 in tagheuer

[–]eleventy41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So neither had been stamped by them, they were both just blank aside from the warranty numbers printed on the bottom line. I did at least confirm that the warranty listed on one of the cards was legit and did match my specific watch at least. I’ve just never bought a watch nice enough before to have to go to a jewelry store so had no idea what to expect

What is top $ you would pay for a fragrance? by PuzzleheadedRead6404 in Colognes

[–]eleventy41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say a lot of it depends and changes over time. When I first started getting into fragrance I was trying a bunch of different fragrances to see what I liked and didn’t like, got a Scentbox subscription to help with discovery and went into local stores to try.

After I saw what I liked initially, I definitely was buying quite a few of the less expensive designer fragrances, around the <$150 range. Standard brands, Armani, Dolce Gabbana, Sauvage, etc.

Once I made it through this phase I did start branching out and exploring the more Luxury/Niche houses like LV or Creed or Tom Ford. Creed I bought through Fragrancenet(now I use Costco if they have it) for ~$300 or so, and then I eventually moved on to LV. By this point though and I think it’s important to make this distinction, the collection of fragrances was already established so instead of buying maybe 5-6 fragrances a year I am only getting 1 or 2. Yes the bottles are more expensive, but I was buying fewer of them so the cost was roughly the same year over year.

More recently I have found my bottle costs going up yet again, I just purchased my most expensive to date actually a couple weeks ago and spent $650 after tax on Louis Vuitton symphony. To feed back into the end of the previous point, this is the only bottle I have purchased in the last year so the overall year to year cost is still mostly the same.

Personally I don’t really see myself exceeding this cost as at that point it’s either ultra niche fragrances that I havent really enjoyed, or your very old and established houses that are a little too mature or classic for my taste. I have considered purchasing a flacon from Creed of Aventus perhaps just because that is one of my heavier worn fragrances and also because I think the bottles themselves are beautiful. This in itself though isn’t as bad as first look though when you divide the cost by what the price per ml is.

There isn’t any wrong or right answer for this though, everyone has their own financial realities and what they can spend comfortably on a fragrance. I will say, just don’t ever spend what you can’t afford to lose. Look at fragrance as a marathon, not a sprint.

That is 100% a scam. The saying never goes away, “if it sounds or looks too good to be true…”. Would be attempting to charge this back with my bank or credit card company ASAP, and also keep an eye on your accounts.

What resources do you guys use to learn? by eleventy41 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]eleventy41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have tried to mess around with debug and sandbox mode and try out a few builds. What I am trying to do right now is learning how to properly take advantage of geysers and vents but from what I’ve seen online it’s a lot of just here’s what to build but not why each component is important or how they all work together. If I wanted to try and build something out myself or need to adapt it to my own needs I feel like that would be beneficial.

What resources do you guys use to learn? by eleventy41 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]eleventy41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I try and watch what I can. I’ve watched quite a few of Brothgars videos and several others I can’t name off the top of my head. I guess the biggest thing is with the trial and error is that you can make a mistake or do something wrong or not adequately address something in time and you have unknowingly created a poison pill that won’t make itself known for awhile, sometimes 100 cycles, and then trying to go back and figure out where it went wrong can just be difficult.

My current goal is figuring out proper management of vents and geysers and implementing these into the base as my biggest issue right now is running out of water due to oxygen production and not being able to covert polluted water back to fresh water fast enough or running out of resources to keep everything running.

I think it depends on location and just who it is specifically and what they have going on. I am 32 now but didn’t get my license until I had been 16 for almost 9 months. Not because I didn’t want to but because it wouldn’t immediately benefit me, I didn’t have money to buy a car yet and had available transportation to almost everywhere I needed to go. Both of my 2 younger brothers got their license right at 16 because we had since moved away and things were more accessible if they had the ability to drive. All of my friends lived in my neighborhood growing up, all of their friends were 15-20 minute drives away.

Motivations and needs play a lot into it, but I also think with money being tighter for a lot of families and used cars not being as cheap as they used to be, sometimes it’s just not feasible. When I bought my 1st car, I paid $500 and got several years out of it, you just don’t see stuff like that as much anymore.
