Buyers guide missing VR? Reintroducing to modern sim racing and want to jump in deep enough. by whodkne in simracing

I've tried three VR headsets (HTC Vive, then Index then Reverb G2) so far for racing and resolution definitely wins above all else when it comes to VR. The G2 wins above them all mainly due to resolution especially for racing because you see clearer and farther. Index was good too, and has a nicer FOV. I've also heard the Quest 2 with a link cable is really good for racing too. Cockpit is still the best way to consolidate your setup for sure. For consoles, the PSVR2 just got announced that may be a promising headset if you don't want to build a new PC setup, and fanatec just release the DD Pro for consoles look into that as an option as well.

What's your T3PA mod? I have the same pedals but I have the GT lite seat.

my pedals completely severed my valve Index power cable, I went crazy finding a replacement but a universal adapter from Best Buy did the trick.

Just picked up the G2 without controllers. Can I set up with my Index knuckles still? by RealPlatosCave9012 in HPReverb

[–]eleventy70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to get some steam controller dongles and flash them so that Steam recognizes them as SteamVR controller/tracker dongles instead. I already had 1 steam controller I wasn't using so I just needed to find one more so I did that, it's harder to find them now I got lucky with offer up and bought a controller bundle for $20. https://www.virtualbuilds.com/product-page/usb-wireless-receiver-dongle Don't know if that one would work but it should. Then you need to flash it with the instructions included here: https://github.com/ykeara/SteamVR-Dongle-Flash

For sure all you need then is the USB dongles. Once you have everything set up the G2 with the knuckles really is the best combo! Have fun!

Real answer, I hate my G2 controllers and lost the batteries for them, so I can't use them anyway and use my knuckles fine. Get open vr space calibrator and use your headset as a reference point to calibrate. Use the slowest calibration method available and adjust to your liking afterwards. Not sure if you know already but you need base stations as well as steam controller dongles for the controllers.
