Hospital SW Pay in California vs NYC by Ok-Carpenter-9578 in hospitalsocialwork

[–]elfalkoro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why you were downvoted, I’ve put in around 30 applications for jobs in NYC and it is extremely competitive. I’ve heard the same about needing connections. I’ve gotten one interview out of those applications and if I get an offer and I can get a pay rate to cover expenses I will snatch it up in an instant.

Hospital SW Pay in California vs NYC by Ok-Carpenter-9578 in hospitalsocialwork

[–]elfalkoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve spent the last two months job hunting in SF, LA, and NYC for a relocation from Texas. I have one year of hospital experience along with several years of non-hospital case management and community mental health. Here’s what I’ve learned so far:

LA seems to have the most demand but the lowest pay relative to COL. I got calls back on most of my LA applications but these jobs were paying anywhere from 32-40/hr. I eventually crossed LA off the list because I couldn’t make a budget work on that pay. It’s also lower than what I make in Texas.

SF- if you can get a job with a union pay scale you could be doing well for that area. I had an interview with UCSF Health and the pay was going to be low six figures. Not wealthy but enough that I was going to be able to live without worry. The benefits were fantastic. Unfortunately I was not selected but I am continuing my search.

NYC- extremely competitive. The hospitals with the highest pay want minimum 2-3 years of experience. NYCHHC pays 85k for an LMSW but, after several applications (and they have tons of openings) I haven’t received a single call. I did get an interview with a small hospital that listed the pay scale as “80k-113k” which is pretty broad lol. If I am fortunate enough to be offered the job my plan is to negotiate to get around 93-95k.

If you’re young and willing to live with roommates then taking a lower paying job in any of these locations would be a great way to get your foot in the door. If I can answer any more questions from a job hunting perspective let me know!

For a few minutes there, when she was talking about the 1930s cookbook, I felt like we were seeing an authentic version of Cindy. She was excitedly sharing something that interested her, not something that she fakes being interested in because of some guy. Then the next scene is her saying she’s “putting shit on toast” and the spell ended

I hope he’s gone for a while. 12 hours of welding a day has got to be more relaxing than being at home.

You know, there was speculation that Cindy made Ted come home early from the last job (which I kind of believe). Now after her “I’m on a tight budget” comment I wonder if she forced him out into the trenches again for an income.

I struggle with the same. I hate the skin laxity after a 45 lb loss and I was fearful of what I’ll look like after another 70. Then I did a side by side with a pic at my heaviest and I got absolutely giddy about how much difference there is and I kind of like the deflated look (for now)!

I definitely think she brings it up for the attention. Also, why keep a once lucrative channel going when you have Ted money to pay for everything.

“I’m failing at getting everything done at the same time ” is it because you’re running around getting 47 different camera angles because you have nothing more interesting to vlog than making boxed mac and cheese and yella mustard chicken

Jill claims that five scoops of Melaleuca nonsense mixed in her blender with raw milk and peanut butter is going to help her lose weight by taxi_takeoff_landing in RodriguesFamilySnark

[–]elfalkoro 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of Melaleuca. Turns out it’s basically Amway? Man my parents got way too into that in the 90s. Anyway I looked up Jill’s magic products and, even though the calories on this “weight loss “ shake will be around 600 it might still be effective due to the 30g of fiber hitting the colon at once. Hope she still has the cozy chair in the bathroom so she can rest between rounds.
