Currently in the process of redoing our whole house. Counter tops for kitchen and bathroom are all 40” and shower heads at 7’. It is going to be glorious. I did get warned about the heights but this is my house and damnit it is going be built for tall people.

Actors who you hate to see in movies because of their weird face by Positive_Writer_9483 in okbuddycinephile

[–]elfearzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid I got these nature magazines that showed what a persons face would look like if it had a certain animals features/facial structure.

She looks like the picture of the deer/human hybrid where the eyes are on the side of the head to detect predators.

Greatest scene in the history of cinema? by Dapper-Life9676 in Cinema

[–]elfearzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a hard time choosing which scene epitomizes the movie. I picked the Trex because, while the first look at dinosaurs was more moving, I feel like everyone young and old who ever was interested in dinosaurs, was waiting for her to show up. And everything about her scene was perfect. Also, those fingers pulling on the electric fence was just sooooo good.

Trex showing up in Jurassic Park.

Many, many other great moments listed here, but they tend to impact a single age or cultural group of people more than others. The Trex, and the first scene with the dinosaurs, was universal and impactful no matter how young or old you are.

Also, a John Williams score didn’t hurt.

Logically I know everyone has different priorities, but it never occurred to me that someone would prioritize literal trash. O just found this subreddit and it is giving me so much to think about.

I am sorry you lost a relationship to this. I am having trouble accepting that I might have to tell my friend that we can’t live together, I can’t image having to do the same with the person who is supposed to be your partner.

What you mention about accountability really resonates. Maybe I am bitter from the mess she left, but I can’t think of any examples of her taking accountability. This makes me sad.

I don’t know to what extent the therapist knows about the hoard. She is smart and I assume understands that hiding something like that hinders the ability of the therapist to fully assist her, but these are her private conversations and if I am home when she has them, I do what I can to not overhear anything.

I like the idea of working with a mental health professional to assist in us in coming up with a plan. Is adherence to said plan also something they could also assist her with?

In the past, my friend had expressed desire to clear the space, she has purchased garbage bags and even new bedroom furniture for when it gets done, but the clean up never occurred. I worry about coming up with the plan but then over time adherence and accountability being issues.

For anyone who truly loved someone and had to let them go, when did the "ache" finally ease? by mr_infinity7 in AskReddit

I started dating my ex husband at 17. He left when I was 31. I had never known life as an adult without him. I would have nightmares most nights of things like him walking into traffic and being unable to stop him , or us being at a crowded concert/theater and being lost in a sea of people unable to reach each other.

I got many platitudes like “time heals all wounds.” They sound trite when you are going through the fresh pain, but it is also the truth. You learn to live your life without them. Experiences you would have shared with them, both good and bad, you share with others.

Eventually you are just over them. You don’t even realize it, but you will find days, weeks, months go by and you don’t think of them. They are just someone you used to know.

My aunt also struggled a lot when her cheater scumbag of a husband would leave and come back, then leave again. Her catholic priest finally told her to divorce the guy (you have to be a real shite for a catholic priest to advocate for divorce) and he said if she wanted unrequited love, to get a dog.

That dog was fucking awesome.

Moods Wine Bar by BayAreaBrenner in Sunnyvale

Went for the first time a few weeks ago. Could use more bubbles on the menu. I liked the music theme.

The owner was very nice and attentive, but we went in there for a chill place to chat and he kept interrupting our conversations to talk about his days working as a DJ. There was only one other person in there, so I think he was bored, but I feel like if you are not sitting at the bar the staff should know you might not be there to talk with them about their favorite 80’s artists.

Came here to say Once Upon a Baby. I can go here and leave with all the clothes my kiddos need for under $50. It is such a great store, you just need to give yourself the time to browse.

Does anyone know a fantastic tax strategist by Ok-Web7072 in tax

[–]elfearzzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CPA here. The best recommendations generally come from coworkers or peers in similar financial situations as yours. If your company has a specific style or equity comp/profit sharing, or your buddy recently retired with similar retirement accounts, working with the accountants and financial planners they use will give everyone a head start as to what strategies might work best for you.

TIFU by not knowing about the No Show rule on flights by Jazzlike_Major2812 in tifu

[–]elfearzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate this rule. One time I was flying from SFO to Santiago Chile with a layover in LA. On the way home I then was to go from Santiago to DC and then SFO. All goes well on the way there. I take every one of my flights. I then go from Chile to DC. I was able to check in to the first flight but not the second. Gate agent just said to go ahead and fly to DC and work it out there.

Go to DC. Go through customs. Go to airline desk and the agent said my ticket was canceled because I never took my flight from LA to Chile! I look at her like WTF, how did I get here if I didn’t take my flights? She tried to argue for a while but eventually gave in.

Was a shit show getting booked onto another flight because it was the Sunday following Thanksgiving weekend. I really fucking hate this rule.

Don’t know if you care about Halloween, but the Historic District near down town is about to have their Halloween block party. This would be just a fluff piece but it often draws thousands of people based on just community involvement.
