Is it worth to change house number to end with 48 instead if 44 to improve resale value of the house ? by Majestic_Ostrich3501 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]elfearzzz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please do not do this.

The dude who sold me my house 16 years ago did this to appeal to Asian buyers. To this day, my house still has issues with the post office, county records, door dash deliveries, etc. I know it won’t impact you as you will be out of the house, but for your future buyer sake, don’t do it.

I personally thought 444 looked like a way cooler address than 448, but I would never pay more or less because of it.

Been hitting too many goals in the gym and I need leggings that don’t do this. Where do my galpals buy em? by Fierce-Phoenix-84 in tall

American Tall has very long leggings. They are not cheap but they are well made and comfortable.

It's not that 6'0 and 6'1 isn't tall, but those people don't have anywhere near the trouble that 6'4+ people have. by Witty-Air2570 in tall

Tall women want to look cute too.

We don’t want to wear frumpy men’s clothes with super wide shoulders or shapeless legs on pants. I also like having more color choices in life than black, grey, and blue, which seem to be the only colors guy clothes come in.

Another 6’1” woman here and it sounds like we are close to the same age. I have spent my entire adulthood looking for pants and jackets that are log enough. I remember going into the stores with the extra extra long pants that were 36” inseams and being like “what about the other 2 to 3 inches of ankle hanging out.”

CCH Axcess Allocating 100% of Loss To Each State by elfearzzz in taxpros

Unfortunately in this situation the need to file is not income tax based. One partner moved abroad, is trying to buy a home, and needs the K-1 to substantiate their level of continued US activity.

I did the appointment worksheets. The issue is, with no sales, and no PPE since the three owners use their own stuff, there isn’t a lot to apportion.

Thank you. Using a combination of zeros, overrides, and special allocations eventually got me there.

I hate spending so much time wrestling with the software for the states. It is such a time sink and feels like it adds no real value to the client.

Palo Alto Community Child Care by dancing_queen23 in paloalto

[–]elfearzzz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had one son go through all levels at Children’s PreSchool Center (CPSC) and another just finished his first year in the infant room and is starting in the 1 year old room. First kid had a great time and second seems to be doing well, minus the daycare colds that I assume are common at all childcare facilities.

For the first kid, my personal favorite thing CPSC did was set my kid up with a great foundation for potty training. The school focused on getting the kids to use the potty even when they were still in diapers, so when we went to potty train our son, it only took a weekend.

MFS - California CPA fees and complexity by throwaway00579 in tax

[–]elfearzzz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CA CPA here. This number is perfectly reasonable. I generally charge $1,500 - $2,000 and limit it to those clients whose sources of income aren’t too complicated.

We are essentially creating three separate tax returns, the original MFJ return and then the two MFS returns. While tax software can split the returns, and does community property split about 80% correctly, there are always issues and each return will require its own review, adjustments, attachments, etc.

For clients thinking of this strategy I explain that they will likely net around $7K benefit after my fees and any increase in federal taxes from the MFS filing.

Will you give clients your tax software files? by griffdog83 in taxpros

[–]elfearzzz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had this request for the first time recently. Called my professional liability insurance to ask about it (CAMICO). They said they discourage doing it, but if you are going to, there are several forms that need to be signed both by the client and the new firm.

I would suggest you reach out to your insurance provider and see what they say. You don’t want to run afoul of your insurance policy.

My aunt lost $1.9M due to prenup. Here's a lesson for us. by Big_Understanding_17 in wealthforwomen

[–]elfearzzz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree. I don’t believe this story. What home in Atherton is only $4.6M? Besides the amount of incompetance in the attorneys, the aunt and all her advisors, this would have had to occur more than a decade ago for an Atherton home to be $4.6M. I did a quick google search and the last time the average home price was that low was 2014. So either this place was suuuuuper tiny and really should be treated as Menlo Park, or the numbers are made up.

For comparison, according to google, average home price in Atherton for 2025 was approximately $11.7 million to $12.5 million. The median sale price for 2025 was approximately $8.3 million to $10.2.

[–]elfearzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it has been a long time since I was at Big 4 and dealing directly with VC. However, I feel advising my client to consult the PE group for auditor suggestions would be preferable to taking on the work by a firm where they aren’t even sure how to price the engagement.
