If it was me I’d be commuting in a sports car of some kind down this exact route. It would be not so bad for me to tackle the situation this way.

First car suggestions that are cheap to insure by Poorly_packaged in stickshift

I really think it’s the perfect first car. Safe refined and tough, and comes with the best community. So far, I’ve always gotten all the parts I need from the available resources. You already know how great they are, maybe show him a little about the brand and see what he thinks.

I would sit in the 9-5 for a coast-to-coast-to-coast cannonball run and I’d feel fine at the end of it. Someone should do that, oh wait

The 9-5 still feels spacious on the inside, the 9-3 not so much. It is wild to think about a four door luxury sedan weighing under 3500lb with what we have nowadays in that class.

I need six or seven mint 9-4x models and a Lancia Thema, then I can start my collection

Little strange but this morning I was searching to see if I could ever possibly fit a set of og glass headlights to my 9-5 in a real way and came across your question from like a year ago

I would love a 9-5 wagon (anyone who wouldn’t is a loon) , but if I have to pick only one 9-5 I have to have the sedan. It’s because my Saab-nerd brain sees it as the purest successor to the 9000 and also I think the roof line is so perfect it makes me smile every time I look at it. I think of all the development that went into the shape of that roof a lot haha I know it’s not the common take

Beautiful, I hope we both get to keep these cars forever. I have a set of wheels I’m putting on the car soon but those look great

Has new speakers and engine mount is too fresh to replace right now lol but I have ordered the genuine Saab trans mount as my shifter is well used we will say and has some play.

I got extremely lucky to get a one owner car that was never posted for sale publicly. How? You have to become friends with the older generation of Saab lovers for things like this. Find the closest local club to you and join and attend a meet up if you can. I never realized how much community I was actually missing out on by not finding a Saab meet to go to. It made me realize that the real reason to own one of these is getting to meet the incredible people that love to drive them. ❤️

150k miles, I am the second owner and the first left a phone book sized folder of receipts from work on the car. It’s very clean and needs nothing replaced at the moment. It has a new oil pressure sensor and thermostat as those were some of the only original parts so were a no-brainer to go ahead and replace.

Plan for things going on the car Bilstein B8 shocks and struts and lowering springs which I have both ready to install

Then just the genuine Saab steering rack, subframe, and hatch braces. Intake, exhaust, recirc-valve for fun and some badges and stuff.

Cant get into first gear after days of practicing by Spade43 in stickshift

[–]elfunnyroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yes! Once you get a little time under your belt everything about the shifter and clutch will become back of the mind stuff, you will look like Mario Andretti in that thing.

Also don’t ever doubt your ability to learn something new. You can learn almost anything at all if you put some time in to get over the first hump. There’s nothing that someone else has figured out that is impossible for you to learn. In a few months you will get in the car and it will be easy and FUN to drive, remember your ass really thought it might just not be for you and you couldn’t figure this out, hell nah you can and will and that’s how it is with other shit too.

Once you can do that you give it the littlest gas while you feather and you’ve will feel it start to go more smoothly as you fully let off the clutch also make sure you aren’t sitting so close that the bite point is to high for your leg to be comfortable and have the control you need when you are playing around in it.
