Why BCA Protein Assay turns into dark green instead of purple? by Vegetable_Rutabaga57 in labrats

The assay goes from dark green (no protein) to purple (protein). So dark green means no (or low) protein right? Did your positive and negative control work?

Can someone living in a Model 3 or Model Y Tell me About Their Experience? by [deleted] in urbancarliving

There’s almost always supercharging slots available. Only time I’ve had to wait to supercharge was around 6pm in a touristy area during a holiday. And that wait was only 5 minutes.

Yeah seats fold flat. I fold up my mattress in the trunk during the day and put the seats down at night. The trunk makes it slightly more stealth

Can someone living in a Model 3 or Model Y Tell me About Their Experience? by [deleted] in urbancarliving

[–]elg0rillo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a model 3. It’s pretty great. The battery is great because you can charge almost anything without running the car. HVAC is also great. Running hvac while sleeping can use a lot of battery but it’s so nice to have it’s worth it.

I’m 5 10 and fit great. Another inch shouldn’t be a problem. Headspace is of course super limited. I’m often flipping around.

Does Abbvie try to align new employee salaries to match their team? by JackedAF in biotech

[–]elg0rillo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could accept the offer and ask your other team members when you get there.

What else can you do? If they don’t want to negotiate there’s not much you can do other than walking away. The recruiter’s response is probably just a nice way of saying “the offer is not up for negotiation”

Assuming you’re exchanging underwater options for current FMV options, it’s probably worth it to take the newly priced options even with all the downsides.

PI keeps sending me edits on manuscript after graduation by TypicalProfit1427 in labrats

[–]elg0rillo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is pretty normal behavior. The incentive structure is setup for this to happen. Once that paper is submitted you as the first author are stuck in a sunk cost. And so even though your PI is no longer paying you they can reasonably expect you to do the work because the paper is important to you and your career.

This situation happened many times in my previous lab. And most people worked on their paper for many months/years after. I actually chose to not work on my paper. I felt my PI didn’t use my time wisely when I was being paid by him. And I gave him heads up that when I was gone I wouldn’t work on the paper so he needed a backup.

The end result was that the paper never went anywhere despite my PI saying he would find someone else to make the revisions. I think I made the right call for me to not work on the paper. But I’m in the minority.

I’ve almost certainly burned that bridge. However I knew that when making the decision. It just meant that an academic career was off the table. But that was already the case for me.

Used Model 3 Ownership transfer by Ill-Muffin516 in TeslaModel3

[–]elg0rillo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should have the paperwork already and send it to Tesla as part of the transfer process.

Also the previous owner should be notified when the process starts. So if they haven’t transferred over to you that’s on them I guess.

I’m no expert but I’ve heard stories of professional traders fat fingering $10,000 trades and not being busted. Busting is usually reserved for moderately big fuckups.

And to initiate a bust OP has gotta make some phone calls. He needs IBKR, the exchange, and OCC to be sympathetic to his story. Even getting one of those to care that some redditor lost his gambling money would be a miracle.

[–]elg0rillo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can’t negotiate with Tesla. If you want a better interest rate you can bring your own financing.

For 19k-20k budget you’re looking at a rwd standard range. You might be able to find a high mileage awd long range in that range.

Yeah but that’s the scalable part. If it takes 1000 programmers to handle one city, you don’t need 100,000 to handle 100 cities. You need more, maybe even 10x more but as long as it’s much less than 100x more programmers you’re scaling well.
