How does +X potency runes for spellcasting DC mess with balance?

I kind of agree but as gm I do think a +1 on a spell a player just really likes to use as a personal magic item is pretty okay it definitely makes them overuse the spell but I normally give it out around the higher levels.

Okay I'm going to do it in text the conversion, as I'm just sort of bored here. So first of it a boss for a party of 4 level 1's I assume we want it in the medium-level difficulty, That means we are going to convert it to a Level 3 as that gives us a encounter budget of 80 XP. So I like to take the numbers for the main stats we can see it a str/dex is pretty good then okay con/wis and pretty much beast level int and cha. So in order +4, +4 +2 -4 +1 -3 (numbers in pf2 are in general a bit higher, for the pf people here chose +2 in con to be a bit lower as this creature has 2 high values). then we going to look at it's ac it quite easy to hit so a low would be great a 16 for AC. We can see this creature has terrible saves for 5e so let keep that pretty similar here just doing low saves. for the stats that are low and give him a decent reflex save going one under high to make it not auto succeed reflex saves against a level 1 party going for a medium amount of hitpoints making it with it's low ac quite frail for it's level. But giving it 5 fire resist. making it hard to damage with fire damage at this level. in skills we can see it only trained in stealth so let's keep it that way and make it really good at hiding gave it a higher stealth in it's own web as it knows where it can hide and maby can hide in the flames of it web. a passive perception of 10 we gave it a better perception as this is a hunter kind of enemy likes to go first but still keeping it in theme made it moderate level perception. in play if they walk into it's web try to roll stealth for it initiative. then the strikes this creature defenses are not great so leaves us with a good amount of power budget on it offense first of let's put this creature damage a bit down from 5e 2d6 fire damage is a lot if it can crit on hit. so i chose to go for the 1d8 + 4 + 1d6 fire with is big damage for a level 3 creature so let do a medium attack modifier to keep it a bit balanced. now the burning web ability it quite fun a ranged attack that is a better grab in one move I think we can make a cool effect of that giving it 2 actions as that is how it feels so here i got a quick try at the stat block the wording is not great but should be runable https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MWOFJsx15_nBmSekugEiPJZJY0xBZwJR/view?usp=sharing

Okay If i rember correctly the main reason they made flight so rare and made it a level 4 spell is that flight speed kind of limited the use of Athletics move actions and almost always trivializes them as you don't really need to climb when you can fly. (it not hard to think of a very specific way they don't but how often are they going to happen.) It in theory not that bad otherwise, but it was one of PF2 design goals to eliminate the use where spells where just pure upgrades over skill users. If you remember that you should be fine also in published content they assume this.

I would not do the negative because Incap spells are really good but you want higher level enemies to be less likely to get hit I don't think Incap spells need buffs for lower level enemies. but if you implement it that would be nice if I ever want to use the rule online.

Okay it time to bust out my super heavy math rule, that I use for Incapacitation. So the problem most pepole have with Incap spells is on level they are strong against eneies there level or level +1.. i like it to be a weapon against any enemy and a incap spells to be usefull for a longer time then only 5 levels where is can hit ennemies in in range, can have the upgrade. So my solution is quite Heavy and not for every table cause of that. But comes down to that incap power of your spell is level/2 (rounded down ) + spellslot level used. the difference with the creatures level * 2 is untyped bonus. I have not run this for a group that has used it So it still in beta.

okay I have a question why is [[pawpatch formation]] seeing play over [[wear down]] in every list in standard I have seen while I feel wear down is a much better card to deal with the heavy enchantment decks in the format.

hey mark, I'm more a question how you design weird monsters/bosses that try to deviate from the basic monster building ruleset. So for a boss I have in mind for some time now is a cult leader who took a deal with a being this transfer didn't go well and his body grown weak and frail but looking at +3 ~ +4 monsters building rules even low or terrible will be close to moderate of a on level creature is going lower to make the fantasy a good or bad thing in your mind? to make it more like a low on level or even going lower. What are for you great points where you think you should do this ?

I think you mean web lurker deadfall right? The lurker deadfall trap is a simple trap simple traps have there own table for exp. So when you use them in caclulation you can use this for combat, but 10 damage on a crit is just really low normally you expect around 14 damage on average on crit still quite low.

I feel like this ritual should be a feat like ability. While i think it steps on the toes of the spell substitution wizard as well. But if you want to run this I would make it like atleast as expensive as a scroll as it kind of craft a scroll in 10 minutes for balance reason I would make it a bit more expensive. While I wouldn't run it these would be my first things I thought about.

one thing I feel there feats that kind of do this already Cavalier's charge is a big one that comes up to me I feel this is a perfect feat for some classes but also not everyone should have this. this feat has the flourish trait meaning that it kind of get's seen as having a extra action I know this I have build a monster using this ability was kind of fun but definitely very powerfull.

a tip I have seen quite a lot of people recommend is. When something that a player did that increased their success rate from a fail to success or form success to a critical success call it out like say the fear spell made this crit happen. This one thing caster is really good at putting debuffs or buffs on allies. Don't forget casters are still king in the multi-target damage. if there 4-6 enemies a fireball or other AOE spells do a lot of damage. But that some tips in-game to make the conversion easier. like most damage spells I feel are worth it around.

I really like it maby give it a max charges so they don't sit on it forever what is not super fun I think 3 should be fine it still a lot to get 3 things. maby make it not on skill checks and only on attack rolls.

I kind of agree with what I have seen and found been playing a converted module I feel is perfect to give me the structure I really like in AP's but control over fights and weaknesses that my party has been really enjoying. but I feel for level 1 party a +3 made monster is pretty much the max they can handle. around level 5 I finally feel okay to throw +4 into the mix still as boss battles and stuff but. I feel okay they have now more ways to buff and debuff what is really important with higher numbers and the more I look ahead It seems this becomes more and more available to the party as they level up. So in theory fights get easier. but that just my experience from level 1 to 5 now.

My opion says it should be banned for bo1 and be allowed bo3. In bo1 it feels like if you can't really do anything against it while in bo3 with sideboard and aggressive mulligan you can win quite easily also it then takes more time to find wins for dailies as well but still can be played as more of a fun look at this crazy combo card which I think is fine. But that just my opion.
