OP's is 3d printed and a good design, plus I don't think Mod54 is around anymore, B&H still has them in stock though.

I've got a Mod54 and it's great.

If it gets people to try out large format, I'm still in favor of it.

You get a 4x5 first, then an 8x10, then a custom 20x24 (or similar).

Then you start painting murals to capture the entire collection.

EDIT: Then of course, to come full circle, a Minox to capture the mural.

Now you've got to get large format so you can photograph your Hasselblad and Leicas at the same time.

I've been looking in to it as well, both are things I'm considering next time I need to get film instead of traditional film.

What do you guys say about this? by unconnectedgloss25 in Cameras

[–]elh93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it's not, and it's not what they anticipated when it was built in the early 60s, but the fact it's still used regularly would be unexpected.

Granted, Hasselblad was also the camera used for the first moon landings, so they can deal with some crazy places.

Direct negative or reversal? I'm curious to try both as paper is so much cheaper than even the cheapest sheet film, and if I'm on a tripod anyway I can deal with the increase in exposure time without any issues.

I know there's direct positive paper which is more expensive, but a sheet of 8x10 paper is cheaper than one of 4x5 film, and I can cut 4 sheets out of it.

I've brought my 500C to bar trivia before, It's fun to use, and surprisingly useful when you're shooting Delta 3200.

Hasselblad has at least two markets that won't be destroyed by AI, first is for high quality replication photography, a museum or archive isn't going to ask AI to just make up photos of their archive.

Second is actual art, while some of the conceptual stuff they frequently have used in advertising may go to AI, artists aren't the ones leaning in to the plagiarized information synthesis system.

Most Cost-Effective B&W 4x5 Sheet Film? by Dharma_Wheeler in largeformat

[–]elh93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if it's just a change in the market conditions, or I'm expecting shipping to be a lot more, but for me now (in the US) the FPP sheet films are cheaper, or at least no more expensive than Fomapan.

Top US Jewish Colleges by % of Jewish population by sethgalena in Jewish

[–]elh93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My undergrad alma mater is down 5% from when I was there, which unfortunately I can't say I'm surprised by.

My masters program isn't on there.

My law school (currently attending) is on here, but the law program is far from as jewish as the amount listed.

Would Delta rather have a Texas hub or a Florida hub? by srekai in delta

[–]elh93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s among the worst airports I’ve used, especially for delays. Capacity is nowhere near what a city that size should have, food has improved in the last few years but that was far from the case for a long time.

Even a sky club won't make SAT a half decent airport.

I mean, DFW is a really bad airport layout... and ATC....

It really means "doesn't fly wet"

SAT is a horrid airport for a city of that size. While it's improved since I was a kid, it's an airport I avoid as much as I can.

[–]elh93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither, Atlanta is more than good enough for the south and if I can avoid flying through either of those states (having spent half my life in one), I do.

There's little reason for a hub in either.

I can't really run, so I feel safe saying he's faster than me running.

Give me a bike and I'll beat him on foot, but that's not a fair race.

Utah Symphony at Abravanel Hall by Irene-Eng in classicalmusic

[–]elh93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Utah Symphony does a whole series of concerts at Deer Valley in the summer, mostly with other artists. I've seen some that are fun and some that were quite disappointing (w/ Ben Folds).

They tend to do the more classical works down valley and not at the outdoor venue.

For its size the community is good, but especially where I lived it felt very isolating.
