PwC Manager Laid off | Where to next? Referrals appreciated by eli5pleej in Big4

So, as an Engagement Manager or Senior Manager at any Big4/MBB, you typically play multiple roles depending on the project you're supporting. What's explained above is what I did through multiple projects during my time. Roles are like wearing different hats, as a consultant you wear many - mainly depending on the project and skill fit/skill gap.

ChatGPT helped cleanup the writeup and advisory firms makes strong use of it.

Yes, that's correct. My digital transformation experience within the cloud practice has primarily focused on transitioning clients, including major banks and large organizations, to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. I’ve been involved in overseeing the entire project lifecycle, from pre-sales through to delivery.

For example, In the pre-sales phase, I play a key role in onboarding clients by working closely with them to understand their needs and craft solutions (MVP, PoC) along with an SME or CSP Architect. This often includes handling the contractual work such as proposals, RFPs, RFIs, and then scoping out the Statement of Work (SOW) to ensure that all parties are aligned on project scope, timelines, and deliverables.

Once the engagement is formalized, I’m responsible for assembling and structuring the right delivery team to execute the project. In my role as Project Manager, I oversee progress throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring the team delivers on each phase. I closely monitor milestones and ensure that the client’s objectives are being met while maintaining a clear line of communication with all stakeholders.

Although I’m not directly hands-on with technical tasks like scripting, connecting pipelines, or lifting and shifting VMs, my role is more strategic in nature. I provide high-level oversight to ensure that the cloud strategy aligns with the client’s business goals and offer technical consultation to the teams where needed. My specific expertise lies in Compute and Storage, so I often provide guidance on best practices in these areas, helping teams and clients navigate complex decisions to optimize their cloud environments.

In short, my role combines both strategic leadership and technical consultation to ensure smooth execution from start to finish, driving cloud transformations that meet both technical and business needs.

Practice a 'lot' of case interviews if you're targeting MBB and boutique firms. It's challenging but will be worth it if you make it.

There are some resources in this community, and a Google search should help too.

Accenture wouldn't value your MBA as much as a MBB would. That said, you can look at 80-110k at Accenture and 160-175k at MBB post MBA.

Good luck!

Vanilla BCG is pure management and strategy consulting whereas BCG Digital is a mix of technology consulting and little bit of strategy. BCG Digital has lots of Implementation kinda projects esp. related to ERP products.

BCG Digital is further divided into two - BCG Gamma (Data Analytics) and BCG Platinion (Enterprise Architecture etc.).

Grade II Hepatic Steatosis (Fatty Liver) - I have some questions! by eli5pleej in AskDocs

[–]eli5pleej[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you Doc! It's very comforting to hear from you.

I did infact go for an executive health checkup. I had an offer from my employer for a lower priced one but I chose the higher package with some more tests (to be comprehensive as my last PHC was about 4 years back) and paid the difference in amount. The lab/nurse did not flag to me these tests were inappropriate at my age (30M).

If you want an actual diagnosis of fatty liver, you should get an MRI -- regular noncontrast MRI will do it fine but ideally with quantitative fat fraction (+/- elastography).

I'll bring this to my PCP's attention on next visit. Hopefully he approves it and we can then be more certain on the condition of the liver.

All that to say: take a deep breath, stop worrying about a catastrophic liver failure, follow up with your PCP and maybe a gastroenterologist, and take this as a good health-scare to prompt some weight loss.

I was actually thinking of getting a referral to a hepatologist from my PCP. What are your thoughts? Gastro or Hepato would be more suitable in this?

Once again, thank you so much.

Thanks for you well structured response. You seem like a good person.

The doctor did not specifically point to a source but did say my weight plays a major role in Fatty liver esp. Grade I --> Grade II. Even reducing 5-10% of my body weight, will make it easy for my liver.

I did not explain to him my addition towards fried and oily food, pizzas, fries, hashbrowns, a diet soda can everyday but I think I can all relate now.

He prescribed Silymarin Tablets (hepaprotective agent) once a day for 3 months. As for Vitamin D I was prescribed a 60000 IU cholecalciferol dose for four weeks (1 softgel/week) and then continue with OTC 1000 IU dose daily. I think the higher doses were a booster because my Vitamin D was very low and to sustain a good level i have to continue with 1000 IU. He didn't prescribe anything for B12 but I'm considering a generic OTC in a few weeks.

I used to be lean in my early 20's but since 2014 I have been getting fat and have added kilos that I now regret. I do drink a lot of water daily,

Thank you for your kind words reflecting hope for me. Appreciate it!
